Where do I start. PLEASE READ! Hired young as a female working in a male dominated business, I expected to get some resistance to my desire to advance my career. I stayed at this dead end job part time for years to pay student loans. I was subjected to an unbelievable amount of harassment and physical abuse that was pushed upon me as a young woman. I put up with it out of fear of not being able to afford basic necessities as a student. I was cat called and ass-grabbed at work, and was forced to sleep with members, yes plural, of management and staff, and offered a promotion as a reward. I left very shortly after for obvious reasons. I had legal counsel advise me to pursue legal action, and when brought to Marks HR department, I was not only shrugged off, but had to send multiple emails/phone calls/and a letter demanding an answer. The reply I did receive was “we’ll look into your claims”, and I never got a response afterwards. Furthermore, the individuals who abused me remained management in Marks, and one was even promoted to a Store Manager position. I feel confident enough to bring this to light now after years of struggling with self-identity issues and trauma from the harassment I received from members of leadership at my job.
