Pros
polite folks but experiences depends on team
Cons
First team, told me they had hundreds of projects and work for me. That they were overflowing with work. At the time I worked in a place that was stable and made me happy. I did not want to give that up. Medtronic made fancy stories of how valuable I would be and how they would need someone like me to do so much for them. So I took a risk and found out on my first week. The team does NOT have alot of projects. They had maybe 2 or 3 but they all had devs working on them already. So I did very minor work and worked on a project that I definately was not qualified for. Then budge was cut really badly and of course I was let go since I am the new guy. So I applied for jobs and I had 2 great offers I was ready to go to. Another team at Medtronic wanted to add me and told me they got tons of features and work to keep up with and are behind. I was hesitant but they were transparent and the team was friendly and supportive so I gave up on offers and join this team. My mistake. Some upper level Director or who ever decides to cut budget on all teams. No warning, no support for people to go to other teams or time to find a replacement job. IF you are a contractor and offered a role at Medtronic, Have one foot in and one foot out. Have another gig or job ready to go. Medtronic does not care about you. The team may, but Medtronic does not. You're just a number to the top Managers to look good and when they look bad they'll dump you to say "I saved money"
