Pros

History of Aeronautics Research ; The RIGHT stuff CIF grant programs are not very competitive meaning easy to nab research funds Because of the aging workforce (mean age 55) there is a lot of opportunity for growth for the young employees Small center means you know most people after a few years. LA is an hour away from the suburbs so weekend fun

Cons

Government GS pay scale is limiting compared to commercial pay. Only aeronautics Little work in Space related projects, mostly aeronautics. AFRC has early all its eggs in one basket: Aeronautics, at the expense of investing in the commercial space boom. Aging workforce with a mean age of 55, can’t keep young people. Can you say death spiral? Bad location (see below): Unbearable location in the summer: over 100 F frequently Poor housing conditions for high cost: high cost of living but low standard of living. Californian politics, taxes, homelessness, trash in local parks.
