Pros

Nice offices, good social culture (pre-covid) amongst younger members of staff, charge rates and hence client expectations are low you rarely need to work unsociable hours if you a competent

Cons

Where to begin.... - very opaque annual and promotion review process. Rules seem to change without warning and to suit whoever senior management flavour of the month is - Distinct, closed-shop inner circle around members of senior management within consulting, who then receive favorable projects and internal opportunities - Roles on offer are very poor - strategic and/or advisory consulting is non-existent, expect to be a bodyshopped PM or BA and left alone with no support for 6/12 months at a time - Bullying and gaslighting not uncommon from certain directors. Expect HR to ignore any complaints - LOTS of nepotism - not insignificant amount of junior members of staff are children of senior management or their friends. While some are competent and hard working, others are not so expect to have to cover for their shortcomings if they work with you - Salary increases, even with promotion, are laughably bad

Pros

I have worked with NTT DATA as a government IT and project management consultant since 2018, starting with Cognosante before the acquisition. My experience has been very positive. I have had the autonomy to focus on the success of my team and my client, while also having the support of a large, high-performing organization. There are real opportunities for growth, strong training resources, and leaders who genuinely care about employees, clients, and the communities they serve. I have also been promoted during my time here, which reflects the company’s commitment to recognizing and developing talent.

Cons

As with many large organizations, processes and systems and can sometimes take time to navigate, especially during periods of growth or transition. Continued focus on communication and simplifying internal processes would make the employee experience even stronger.
