- Typical carrot and stick motivation. - Results are meaningless for promotions/raises unless you have set them as goals the year prior. - "tier" base roles, to get any raises "above" your tier limit (even a simple cost of living adjustment) would require a long and tedious process where you need to "demonstrate you deserve it", this is not based on results but rather on their own meaningless KPI
