"Remarkable" took on a new meaning - Human Resources Novant Health Employee Review

Pros

I worked with some great people, most of whom have also left. Novant does a great job of hiding/spinning the information about them to maintain a good reputation in spite of reality. Recruiters are also trained to do a lot of bait and switch in order to bring in talent. So there are pockets of competence and kindness in various parts of the organization. But if you work in a corporate department, you realize that is not part of the overarching plan. There are a lot of opportunities to learn (often to learn what not to do) if you have the stomach for it. If you do not have a personal life outside work, and have a high tolerance for moral ambiguity, this can be a great place to make money. Benefits are good.

Cons

The nepotism and incompetence is staggering. There are so many VP's and "C" suite executives that get shuffled around from job to made up job, no one can keep track. But we would freeze hiring and/or cut jobs on the front line - because of this I would never be a patient there. Speaking up is not allowed, and departments are purposely set up in silos so that no one knows too much. Employees are treated poorly and then bullied into giving high marks on employee surveys. If you value your personal and professional ethics, this is a very uncomfortable place to work.

Pros

I had a great experience as a Research Assistant at Novant Health. The team was welcoming, collaborative, and supportive of learning. I gained valuable experience in clinical research, data collection, patient interactions, and working alongside healthcare professionals. The environment encouraged professional growth, and I appreciated the opportunity to contribute to meaningful research while developing skills that will benefit my future career in healthcare.

Cons

Depending on the project, the workload could fluctuate, and some tasks were repetitive, such as data entry and documentation. However, these responsibilities are a normal part of research and helped reinforce attention to detail.
