Pros

- The team was great, everyone was very kind and helpful. - They take their time to develop stuff, and have good standards for most of the things. - I often had time to focus on learning as tasks were small and simple. - Payment was great.

Cons

- They sold me a very good opportunity with lots of cool stuff to work on, but I spent most of the time doing legal trainings totally unrelated to my work. They were very disorganized regarding my first week, as I didn't even have a buddy to help me get everything right. It took them days to figure this out, and I was responsible for figuring out everything by myself. - They don't know how to make budget for stuff. They hire a lot and then fire everyone because they don't have the money to pay for them. They were very dishonest with me regarding my payment, and even asked me once if I was okay in lowering my salary and changing my hiring terms, which is extremely illegal in the country I live in. - Extremely disorganized, taking multiple weeks and even months to send documents and devices that you need to work with on day 1. They forgot to add me to important meetings and calls, and I managed to get fired even before they finish doing that! - Most employees don't even know why they are in the meetings they are invited to. You get invited to a lot of unnecessary calls and you don't really know why. It was overall a bad experience. If you can, avoid it.

We’re happy to hear that you enjoyed working with your team, were able to create great code, and enjoyed our compensation package. We strive to maintain a great value proposition for all Owlies. We realize we have room to improve with our employee onboarding processes and are working to make changes. We want to make sure that every Owlie receives the tools needed (laptop and IT resources) for their job in a timely manner. Additionally, we want every Owlie to work with their manager to create a 30/60/90 day plan as a part of their onboarding, so that their path to success is clear. Also, Owlet is committed to adhere to all applicable laws and regulations wherever we do business or employ people. The recent layoffs were not something we planned for, but they were necessary given the challenges we currently face as a business and the macroeconomic pressures that are present for many companies right now. For those who were impacted, we provided severance packages that included career transition services, severance payments, and benefit continuation. We are sad to see these individuals leave. We strive to be transparent with our Owlies about the state of the business and know there is room for improvement in this area. We believe the future is bright here at Owlet. Please feel free to reach out to us at peoplesupport@owletcare.com if you would like to discuss your concerns with us further.
