Pros

Outside of the IT department this is a good place to work. Most of the people here are friendly, good, hardworking folks it's a shame that a certain individual is trying to ruin the reputation of the company.

Cons

This is a company that for over 100 years has preached values, ethics and integrity. Since the day the CIO has walked through the door the culture of the IT department has changed and it has only gotten worse. He is currently working on a plan to eliminate more than 40 positions from IT in the coming weeks and replace them with outsourced resources. In his time at PSEG he has shown little regard for the well being of the people in this department and now his actions take it one step further. Room for advancement came to a screeching halt when he started working here as open positions within his SLT were filled by his former associates from outside of our environment. Management and supervisor positions were handpicked and filled as rotational assignments without giving qualified employees the opportunity to post. Lower level positions have already been outsourced or eliminated. It is very discouraging. He also does not seem to care what the impact that outsourcing will have on the perception of the company in today's political environment. We work in an industry that relies on our federal and local government in many different ways. While our President and his administration are looking to keep jobs here our CIO has his own agenda. As this becomes public what does that do to the image of the company? What message does that send to our employees, customers, suppliers and government? This is a CIO has been investigated for ethical misconduct more than once and while PSEG encourages and preaches the Standards of Integrity it seems to not apply within the walls of his office. There may be a place for outsourced resources within a company in order to cut costs and enhance productivity but it is very unfortunate that the self-serving decisions of some people are going to cost so many good, hardworking, caring people their jobs. This agenda seems to be nothing more than a way for him to pad his resume (and potentially his pockets) and move on.
