Great work environment and culture--except for a couple important things. - Software Developer Paycom Employee Review

Pros

The overall culture is great. It's very professional (dress code, 8-5 work hours, etc), but I find that to be a big help for productivity, and I like the environment more that way. I would NOT describe it as "uptight." All the developers are actual employees, unlike at some tech companies where half your team are "contractors" who are treated differently. Benefits-wise, the basics are covered, and one-dollar-per-paycheck health insurance is really nice. From a software development standpoint, I like that there is a standard structure and process for doing things, and it works pretty well, even if not perfect. It lets me get my work done without having to think much about things that are less important. The work itself is engaging and fun.

Cons

No paid maternity leave--this is a colossal drawback; Paycom only offers the bare minimum mandated by federal law (FMLA), which is simply a guarantee that you can return to your job after 12 weeks of unpaid leave, provided that you exhaust all your vacation time first. Employees hear a lot about the company's "values," but diversity and inclusion never seem to be mentioned. Also, working from home is not an option for software developers.

Pros

The work we do is challenging but is satisfying. $4 dollar lunches are great and I enjoy the people and managers I work with. We have gone through changes, but the changes are worth it and the tools we are provided keep us successful. The salary is great and top level, highly recommend working here if you love a challenge. I promise you’ll never be bored.

Cons

The workload and hours can be heavy at times, but the long-term gratification is worth it. Paycom is about long-term investment, and it requires patience and perseverance but it’s worth it, if you are strong enough.

Pros

* Fast learning and professional skill growth. * Great people and strong teams. * Recognized name in the OKC community. * Valuable experience that strengthens future career opportunities, especially in Tech.

Cons

Over the past couple of years, career growth has felt extremely limited. Promotions and meaningful raises have become increasingly rare, and many employees believe these decisions are being driven from the very top. Layoffs and terminations have also become common, creating a constant sense of uncertainty. High performers often take on high-visibility projects with aggressive timelines and limited support. The expectations are unrealistic, and even successful delivery doesn’t usually lead to recognition or advancement. Leadership tends to make decisions very late, creating unnecessary urgency and forcing teams into last-minute scrambles. Benefits have declined, opportunities for advancement have become scarce, and overall morale has suffered significantly. There are talented people here and it can be a good place to gain experience, but I would view it primarily as a stepping stone rather than a long-term destination.
