Pros

Pay is decent, but only because you will be working 2-4 hours overtime every.single.day. My co-workers are great but you know your job is horrible when all we ever do is complain about how miserable and highly stressful our job is.

Cons

ZERO work/life balance. For being the top place to work in Oklahoma, their PTO is HORRIBLE! As a working parent, I want to provide for my family and still be invested in my their activities, but Paycom does not care about you and your family life and is not willing to give their employees who dedicate hours and hours of work in an extremely stressful position, time off to unwind and dedicate to family events. I will barely accrue ten vacation days off this year while in turn, I have been working well over 80 working hours each paycheck because Paycom doesn’t create a better system or call center for their quickly growing business. I am not even a full year into my job as a PSD specialist and I have NEVER had a job that I dread going to so much. It’s really quite sad that they suck you in by sugar coating the job and telling you how great training is and that overtime isn’t really required until year end and that the pay is great. Money does not buy happiness. I should not feel physically ill from the extreme stress each day. We are so micro-managed on the phone it’s laughable… they literally treat grown adults like high schoolers and constantly monitor your phone time. Plus, the phone literally rings off the hook and it is NEVER my clients. The phones call are insane and You are lucky if you get a few seconds break before the next call. Then you are also expected to manage your own client emails that NEVER get answered until end of day because of the phone and most days people are ending the day with 75 to 100 emails that must be replied to and resolved before you clock out for the day. Complete and utter crap. Fresh out of training you are expected to meet high metrics with mediocre training that in no way prepares you for what really lays ahead. They expect you to troubleshoot and train clients on products that were not even taught to us. product updates and releases… don’t even get me started on that lack of communication and training there. Most of the time you can barely get help with a very pressing matter, because your team and supervisor group are so busy as well and your just expected to “research it” and call the client back, when in reality they are pissed and have payroll due in an hour. We have no time to even work on training courses because Paycom will not allow us adequate time during the week or month to prepare for product updates. We are expected to complete those on our lunch break or before/after the work day. Plus, if a co-worker is gone, you are responsible for their work because Paycom has zero structure when it comes to people being off. That’s probably why they give us such little opportunity to take time off is because they have no structured system to balance the workload when someone is gone.

Paycom Specialists are a vital part of our success and our clients’ experience. We are growing quickly but strive to create an environment where all of our employees can design a work-life balance that works best for them, and our leaders are always looking for ways to increase efficiencies and grow those teams. This includes the implementation of the floating specialist role to assist when specialists are scheduled to be out of office. We understand it can be a fast-paced role that takes grit, and we value your contributions. We strongly encourage you to share these sentiments with your HR Business Partner, our HR team hrmgmt@paycomonline.com or one of our Well-Being Advisors.

Pros

* Fast learning and professional skill growth. * Great people and strong teams. * Recognized name in the OKC community. * Valuable experience that strengthens future career opportunities, especially in Tech.

Cons

Over the past couple of years, career growth has felt extremely limited. Promotions and meaningful raises have become increasingly rare, and many employees believe these decisions are being driven from the very top. Layoffs and terminations have also become common, creating a constant sense of uncertainty. High performers often take on high-visibility projects with aggressive timelines and limited support. The expectations are unrealistic, and even successful delivery doesn’t usually lead to recognition or advancement. Leadership tends to make decisions very late, creating unnecessary urgency and forcing teams into last-minute scrambles. Benefits have declined, opportunities for advancement have become scarce, and overall morale has suffered significantly. There are talented people here and it can be a good place to gain experience, but I would view it primarily as a stepping stone rather than a long-term destination.
