They are flexible with your schedule.

Pros

Good contract with UTMB that expired. We had a valuable opportunity to learn about pt interaction and care from UTMB staff (Not ProScribe).

Cons

Once we lost the UTMB contract I could tell this company wanted to push us scribes out instead of helping us find other contracts / opportunities. Before we lost the UTMB contract I had successfully scribed for several doctors, teaching myself everything from scribing, medical abbreviation and the EHR system. It was typical that I had more knowledge of how programs worked, but trainers were typically unable to answer any technical questions about the assignment/case. Training was very hands off and minimal. We went from synchronous on-site scribing to having to learn complex EHR’s out of state. What they also don’t tell you is that every time your provider or assignment changes at this company you get kicked back down to “training” wages of $7.25/hour. I fought for my base wage to stay through this “training” but discovered this company never planned on moving me past minimum wage, despite the complex medical knowledge they require their scribes to know, and the intense availability schedule. I somehow managed to stay til the last day and then was thrown in waiting getting $0 in pay. In my opinion the new managers at this company have continued to punish me Due to missing 1 day of training. I contacted Brittany and informed her that I would not be making it into clinic explained to her my medical emergency of an infected wound on my leg and a hx of diabetes2. She was provided with the appropriate documentation.
