Pros

This place used to be innovative & drive for excellence, now it's run by tyrants.

Cons

This place WAS great... Now it’s the personal piggy bank of the NEW CIO to fund his old company. So much for cutting ties. Leadership no longer cares about the values that are so loudly touted, but never enforced. With a useless/powerless HR department who can't enforce anything to a CEO who is only looking at what she can do to further her carrier outside of the Health System (her contract is up in less than 2 years). Major projects that the CIO was brought onboard to champion & COMPLETE have instead been handed over to others below him. This is seen as a promotion by these people, but instead is an effort of the CIO to distance himself from a failing project. Instead of this being a promotion, this is instead more rope. This major re-work of the environment only spells disaster. This has left employees to defend for their jobs on a daily basis while the leadership sits in their Ivory Tower. Support groups have been reorganized to no longer report to those who care for & nurture the employees to bring the best success. Instead they are now reporting to a tyrant in hopes to drive the teams away from working at the health system. The commitment to the organization was to never cut headcount, but nothing was said about making this place miserable for those who have dedicated years of their lives to the success of this organization and it's commitment to the community.

Pros

(This is for Providence St Vincent Medical Center in PDX) - staffing ratios - break nurses - ONA union - coworkers on my unit are very helpful and kind (can’t speak for every unit though)

Cons

- upper management hates the nursing union - we are short on many supplies on weekend night shifts - crappy insurance - my unit’s manager is almost never there, they’re always on vacation or working remote. This makes our manager very out of touch with the unit’s needs
