Pros

Good people in general staff

Cons

Incompetent, disorganized management. As far getting hired, if you're young and attractive or a comedian, then you've got a good shot. Maturity, professionalism, and great job performance are not appreciated. Recent cutbacks to staffing, compensation, and benefits were blamed on preparing for the new healthcare law - the effects of which no one knows yet. However the hospital continues to invest heavily in growing their network of care facilities in order to maintain their dominance in the western NC area and continue fending off Carolinas Healthcare.

Pros

(This is for Providence St Vincent Medical Center in PDX) - staffing ratios - break nurses - ONA union - coworkers on my unit are very helpful and kind (can’t speak for every unit though)

Cons

- upper management hates the nursing union - we are short on many supplies on weekend night shifts - crappy insurance - my unit’s manager is almost never there, they’re always on vacation or working remote. This makes our manager very out of touch with the unit’s needs
