Pros

Large multi-faceted system in over 5 states. Only work here if like to practice medicine in a small box where you are told how you will provide care on all levels and be picked apart piece by piece over every detail that they deem important .. Day after day -

Cons

Large multi faceted system in over 5 states. Changes are global without investigating if all areas will benefit (and so often do not). Patients become numbers and Care Providers are micromanaged to death. It creates a culture of unhappy, overworked, under appreciated professionals that find little to no joy in their delivery of health care. They are dis-honest and do not follow their mission. When approached with concerns, they have people in power that force your silence or make it so unpleasant that you leave or they retaliate with threats.

Pros

(This is for Providence St Vincent Medical Center in PDX) - staffing ratios - break nurses - ONA union - coworkers on my unit are very helpful and kind (can’t speak for every unit though)

Cons

- upper management hates the nursing union - we are short on many supplies on weekend night shifts - crappy insurance - my unit’s manager is almost never there, they’re always on vacation or working remote. This makes our manager very out of touch with the unit’s needs
