Pros

Great bonus plan, 4 weeks of vacation, you'll always be busy, and there is some great comroderly outside of the corporate office. This company can be an excellent resume/career builder.

Cons

The biggest con of working here is that some managers can be extremely condescending and very demeaning towards the people that report to them, especially if you have ideas that don't conform with their ideas. This seems to be the primary reason that people move on. Secondly, this is a very task based and serious work culture - dress like you're going to a wedding or funeral every day including Fridays, don't expect any free lunches or dinners, or even a token departmental holiday lunch - these things just aren't part of the culture in the corporate office. I see what a lot of the other reviewers say about there being no support for new employees - that can make it very tough if you are at a difficult client or on a difficult project. It also can be a very frustrating first job for recent college grads. Bottom line is this is a very cut-throat culture and its not for everyone. The people that are perceived as the worst performers are let go every February - and politics can drive who is let go. They tell you this before you are hired though and they are open and honest about this. However, some very competant and skilled professionals have gotten fired from here without being given a fair warning or a chance to improve.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
