Pros

Team Members and Regional leaders are knowledgeable, hard working, and are great to work with. They are educated, business savvy, friendly, and motivated.

Cons

Corporate Leadership is an absolute disaster. The CFO has far too much say in the operations side of the business, which hampers the COO's (and RailWork's) chances of being successful. The CEO is little more than a hatchet man. He is currently cutting everything in sight (including employees) to try and make the company's financials look better for the venture capital company that owns RailWorks. He has no communication skills, leadership aptitude, or common sense. The CFO and CEO have very little communication with people who actually make the company money, and are only concerned with bottom line numbers. Very toxic environment at the New York headquarters. No IT project management resources, no company-wide policies and procedures, no system training. The CFO and CEO need to be replaced in order for this company to be successful. I feel for the good people at RailWorks (and specifically the people at the headquarters office) who are knowledgeable, motivated, and work hard but are suppressed by their inadequate leadership.

Pros

None that I know of.

Cons

My experience in this department was challenging due to ongoing issues with professionalism and workplace conduct. Management frequently engaged in behavior that created unnecessary conflict and tension among staff. Multiple concerns were reported about her interactions with employees, but no corrective action was taken. Leadership consistently defended her despite repeated complaints and despite her speaking negatively about them to others. There was also an instance where leadership appeared to work together to remove an employee who had reported concerns to HR. This reinforced the impression that HR’s priority was protecting the company rather than addressing employee issues. Several former employees have shared similar experiences, describing the environment as toxic and expressing relief after leaving. The high turnover in this role reflects the ongoing problems within the department. Additionally, although management expressed positive feedback about me when I left, she later gave contradictory comments during a reference check. This inconsistency was disappointing but ultimately did not affect my career. The workplace culture is heavily influenced by internal relationships and family connections, which can make it difficult for employees to feel supported or treated fairly. I am grateful to have moved on from this environment.
