Pros

Some of the coworkers are great to be around and work with. Many of them I consider to be family. Schedule flexibility is ok when you go to school or have another job

Cons

Where do I start with the cons???! I have been here for over 3 years and raises are horrible I went from 7.25 to 8.50 in 4 years. When I went from cashiering to front end supervisor I asked if I would get a raise and they said no for what? FES's have a lot more responsibility than just cashiering. Lack of communication is pretty obvious with the managers and now that we got that people works going on scheduling sucks we're always short handed and have to deal with all the customers complaining because we don't have enough cashiers because people works scheduled everything wrong. People call out or do no shows and they get away with it all the time. Closing at midnight is so stupid. I have gone to other ross stores around those times to see how it is and literally there are maybe 1-5 customers in the store. Instead of wasting money on keeping the store open so late they should go back to closing it at 9:30 and guarantee the employees better hours and not to mention security and safety. There are a lot of crazy people out there at that time and the loss prevention specialists can't even stop a customer from shoplifting. Why should I put my life at risk by staying out so late if I know I can't be protected? I think that the whole part timers not being able to work more than 25 hours is ridiculous. Ross makes so much money everyday I don't understand where the money goes. They also hire so many people and the ones that have been there working for a long time and have shown to be hard working get their hours cut to maybe working one day in a week and the new hours are given to all the new people. This is the MAIN reason people are always quitting or just not showing up at all and I don't blame them. When I quit this year I will not be going back, not even to shop. How I've managed to stay working there for so long is beyond me.

Pros

Really flexible schedule- helped me all throughout college-, great people, fantastic discount, easy job, sometimes even fun.

Cons

No benefits, part-time means hours vary based on the season- you can work a max of 38.5 hours in the busy season, but in January you're lucky to get 15 hours, customers are rude sometimes and being a cashier is exhausting especially during back-to-school season.
