Pros

The engineers and direct managers are great. The culture there is awesome, everyone wants to help each other learn and they have quarterly hackathons that are super fun to participate in. The work is super challenging with lots of room for growth

Cons

The company will give you projects outside of your skill level without clearly communicating expectations. They refuse to hire staff engineers or TPMs to lead large projects. After leading one of the largest projects at Rover, I learned that all my male co-workers made much more than me and were not leading large initiatives. I do not recommend this employer for any women despite the career growth opportunities.

Pros

Working at Rover has made me more appreciative over time, not less. Leadership is thoughtful, capable, and accessible. My coworkers are smart, curious, and genuinely good people—I learn from them every day. The team takes Rover’s values seriously and puts people first. The product isn’t perfect, but there’s real momentum to improve, modernize, and deliver more value to customers. It’s refreshing to work somewhere that does good work with good people, without sacrificing work-life balance to get there. I’m grateful for the experience—and aware it’s set a high bar for whatever comes next.

Cons

No workplace is perfect, and Rover isn’t an exception—but the downsides aren’t significant enough to be dealbreakers, in my opinion, especially if you’re looking for a company operating at our current stage and level of maturity.
