Pros

I worked at Rover as a Marketing Manager, and while the company has a great mission and product, my experience was frustrating and stressful. Upon returning from maternity leave, I found myself overwhelmed with a significant workload, limited support, and unrealistic expectations. There was a lack of proper training, and I felt that leadership didn’t provide adequate guidance to help me succeed in my role. The communication with my manager was often one-sided and focused on pointing out errors, which left me feeling unsupported and undervalued.

Cons

The pressure to deliver high-stakes work while training without room for mistakes was constant, and it became clear that my well-being was secondary to company demands. Despite my dedication and efforts, I never felt like I was able to catch up or receive the recognition for my hard work. This left me feeling discouraged and ultimately questioning my long-term future with the company. While Rover has potential and a strong brand, my time there was marked by burnout, lack of mentorship, and high expectations with little support. I wouldn’t recommend working here, especially if you’re seeking a healthy work-life balance.

Pros

Working at Rover has made me more appreciative over time, not less. Leadership is thoughtful, capable, and accessible. My coworkers are smart, curious, and genuinely good people—I learn from them every day. The team takes Rover’s values seriously and puts people first. The product isn’t perfect, but there’s real momentum to improve, modernize, and deliver more value to customers. It’s refreshing to work somewhere that does good work with good people, without sacrificing work-life balance to get there. I’m grateful for the experience—and aware it’s set a high bar for whatever comes next.

Cons

No workplace is perfect, and Rover isn’t an exception—but the downsides aren’t significant enough to be dealbreakers, in my opinion, especially if you’re looking for a company operating at our current stage and level of maturity.
