Pros
Starting at Safeway as a courtesy clerk and ultimately moving up the management in 5 years has allowed me to gain valuable management experience that will be useful in future job openings. It does depend on the store you work for, but there are many with great people that make the day-to-day tasks more enjoyable.
Cons
It's your basic retail situation so working on holidays, sporadic schedules, dealing with irate customers are all part of the job.
