Pros
At the corporate level, there's a commitment to quality and a sincere desire to make things better. The system as a whole recently (2008) won the Malcom Baldrige Award for Quality, and SGR and SMH have won Magnet designation, a prestigious award geared toward nursing.
Cons
It's hard work a lot of the time. It's a complex environment, but overall, this is not unusual for a healthsystem this size. At the corporate level, there's genuine leadership and some amazing folks that truly do a great job. In the trenches is where the rubber meets the road!
