Pros
- The pay is not bad for the most part. You get paid weekly instead of biweekly or monthly.
- Good way to start your CFY if you want to dip your toes into a school setting.
- I got a placement very quickly (Only a few days).
- Decent benefits (401k, medical, dental, vision).
- Great support from my supervisor.
- Great work/life balance.
Cons
- No pay during the holidays (summer/winter break)
- Some miscommunication between the school and the agency. For example, on my first day at work, I was assigned to start at the beginning of the year. When I went to the front office, nobody knew I was the new SLP. The staff and I had to scramble on what to do with me. It was quite confusing and overwhelming.
- The school district does not give you full access to their system (e.g., Areies, SEIS) due to not being a direct hire.
