      Stylist: Hard work but fun atmosphere - Stylist Sport Clips Employee Review

      Pros

      The stylist job itself is pretty fun if you enjoy sports. Everything from the services offered to the decor to the equipment used have sports themed names. You get to wear athletic clothing and sneakers everyday. No chemical services are offered so there are no 'typical' salon smells.

      Cons

      Staff turnover is always high. You watch ESPN day in and day out. Even for the biggest of sports fans it can be a bit excessive. Minimum productivity standards continue to rise making it harder to bonus. Without the bonus you're making the same amount of money as you would be at any other entry level hourly paid job. They are open 7 days a week meaning you will be required to work every Saturday and most Sundays as well.

      Cons

      The pay is excellent as long as you’re performance is strong and especially if your flexible with your schedule and full time. But if you’re not a good performer or super part time, this might not be the best place for you.

      Pros

      Great hourly pay with tips. Averaged about $38 to $40 an hour. Great starting place. They do offer training. The co-workers were nice at my location. Management does help you with flexible scheduling so if you have children, it works out great.

      Cons

      Burnout is real. Expected to complete service within an allotted short time. Too many clients come in that want expensive barbershop cuts but want to pay the lowest price (they really shouldn’t even go to sport clips for). Also, way too many clients with long hair wanting full scissor cuts. They won’t turn away clients even if the cuts they ask for are — are not something sport clips does or allows for a lot of time. TV’s get annoying after a while (too loud).
