Pros
Pay was very competitive and there was a very good work-life balance. There was also a good benefits plan, great corporate pension contribution, and decent employee share purchase plan.
Cons
Job title alignment to pay & accountabilities across the organization was a big issue. There were some cases where directors on the Consumer Solutions business-side earned less than a developer or business systems analyst within the IT department. There were directors who had a total of 3 people on their team while functional managers on the IT side averaged over 20 direct reports. Telus also had a very institutional employee culture, and had a frat house like environment on the Consumer Solutions business areas who enjoyed "hanging out" after work together. This was likely due to the large contingent of university students recruited annually on the Consumer Solutions business areas and given lofty titles without the equivalent pay. Managers in Consumer Solutions had job functions similar to a camp counsellor.
