Pros

Internship is very comprehensive in familiarizing a newcomer to retail with all practices in big-box retailing. Interns are given the opportunity to fill the role of an ETL and contribute ideas with management. Interns are respected and welcomed by all employees and managers in the store. The internship is a great way to test retail management. Since it's not for everyone, it can be a great way to get a taste of such an environment. The ability to gain general management experience which could be translated to other industries.

Cons

Target strives for a very strong corporate culture. It could be difficult to understand and adapt to this culture in such a short time if you aren't prepared to do so. This "culture" can be frustrating at times as you feel the need to express your ideas in "language" which is cohesive with the culture. Again, retail is fast-paced and it requires being many places in a large store in a short period of time. Target is no different. Therefore, making personal connections is especially challenging.

Pros

Pay and growth opportunities. Thorough training when you are new to the company.

Cons

Work-life balance isn't the best because you are required to close quite a bit while also working your dayside shifts.
