Pros
The work itself is simple. Some of the other team members are nice and fun to work with. The customers are usually pretty nice and easy going.
Cons
Target pays minimum wage ($9 an hour) which is impossible to survive on here in LA. Additionally, Target won't work around schedules or give you set hours so taking on a second job is impossible. Anti-Union practices. Target makes you watch an anti-union propaganda film upon being hired. If a company needs to threaten to fire their employees for seeking out workers rights then that's a company that's in serious need for workers rights. The management is young and immature and voicing concerns only leads to punishment for speaking up. Many of the management team members love to gossip and talk behind other employees backs. There's no sense of comradery here. Most of the team leaders will stab you in the back if they can benefit from it. There is no consistency among the feedback given by management. One team lead told me my zone was done incorrectly, I changed the way I zone, another team lead told me I was zoning wrong and essentially told me to do what I was doing from the beginning. Target fosters a very unhealthy work environment. The people who work here seem to get by get by on gossip and lies. This does not create a sense of pride in one's work nor does it encourage team members to work together. Target doesn't offer Benefits to part time employees and it only hires management as full time. Target is a dangerous place. It has a toxic corporate mentality that permeates throughout its management team. Because of my experience working here I no longer shop at Target. I can't support a company that shows nothing but discontempt for its employees.
