Pros

People, competitive salary, flexible schedules.

Cons

The Container Store is starting to lose the appeal that is once had. The business model they are following now doesn't make much sense to the people that have worked here for so long. Many people who have been here for 10, 15, 20 years are beginning to leave because of it. The company really didn't handle going public very well and it is starting to show. Company initiatives (in a lot of employees opinions) are focusing on the wrong things and not on who their true competitors are. A once employee first company is not that anymore. TCS has continued over the past year to invest in other companies employees for help instead of their own and cutting TCS employees hours to save payroll. Also, forcing people to quit after many years of service because they make too much money, as well as other ways such as wage and 401k freezes. We understand that lots of companies do some of these things, but when you invest in certain reworks, remodels, and new store openings when you don't have the money to do so, and have to freeze your employees wage increases because you have no money, then you have to start to wonder what is happening. I enjoyed my 7 years working here, don't get me wrong. However certain changes the company has been making as of late have cause serious concern amongst employees. Hopefully TCS can turn it around.

Pros

Everyone from director level on down in my department was great. Very collaborative. Gave you autonomy to do and try new things.

Cons

Where do I start…Sr. Leadership is TERRIBLE. I mean absolutely horrific. No direction and plans were changing at the drop of a dime after the BB&B “merger”. You could feel the shift in the culture, just NASTY attitudes and taking the employees for granted. The new CEO and the rest of Sr. level execs acted like everyone was just expendable workhorses. They touted reopening the headquarters cafe as some awesome benefit so they could bring people back to the office full time. If you’re going to be bullish and require everyone back, have some guts and just do it. But don’t act like a cafe is some life changing benefit to get everyone excited. Anyway, blind leading the blind. The merit increase or raises - non existent. No 401k match. Nothing positive because the company is so broke. The new store concept sounds a mess. Save yourself and don’t even apply, let alone accept an offer. Joel Bines is no longer the CEO. He was a great guy and I think he had great ideas. Marcus Lemonis is the new CEO and I would give him a thumbs down.
