Pros

Awesome part-time co-workers Having a say in my availability One senior management person was helpful, supportive, and caring. Nice employee discount, but would've preferred less discount for higher hourly pay and less stressful situations because of being short-staffed. ***Please note: the first six of my eight months at this company went well. Sadly, the last two months were the exact opposite.

Cons

Short-staffed; lines often 8 to 10 customers long and when we called for back up on registers, there was no one scheduled to do that or someone had to be called from another assigned job they were working on; were told we would get a break when lines were caught up but that didn't happen because of being so short-staffed. No breaks for five-hour register shift, even for the restroom; often had to leave my register to use the restroom because no one was available to come allow me to take even a short restroom break. Even if Texas law doesn't legally provide breaks, most companies know that if employees are hydrated and nourished and have basic human needs met, they'll be more productive. (In the first six months or so at this company, 15 minute breaks were scheduled and provided for every register employee, but not in the last two months.) Little management support, except for one of the assistant managers People at corporate only seem to care about their profits and stockholders profits. None of the company profits seemed to have been distributed to non-management employees, i.e. more hours for the store, higher hourly pay, more overall store support. Some middle management and senior management employees seemed to only look for any little thing to nitpick about how badly we were doing our jobs rather than extending supportive, positive types of feedback. This positive feedback could've gone a long way with stressed employees. Seemed like for the past two to three months I was there, everyone was in a grumpy mood every day. It was very difficult to stay positive and when I saw no changes were going to be made, I made the decision to resign.

Pros

Everyone from director level on down in my department was great. Very collaborative. Gave you autonomy to do and try new things.

Cons

Where do I start…Sr. Leadership is TERRIBLE. I mean absolutely horrific. No direction and plans were changing at the drop of a dime after the BB&B “merger”. You could feel the shift in the culture, just NASTY attitudes and taking the employees for granted. The new CEO and the rest of Sr. level execs acted like everyone was just expendable workhorses. They touted reopening the headquarters cafe as some awesome benefit so they could bring people back to the office full time. If you’re going to be bullish and require everyone back, have some guts and just do it. But don’t act like a cafe is some life changing benefit to get everyone excited. Anyway, blind leading the blind. The merit increase or raises - non existent. No 401k match. Nothing positive because the company is so broke. The new store concept sounds a mess. Save yourself and don’t even apply, let alone accept an offer. Joel Bines is no longer the CEO. He was a great guy and I think he had great ideas. Marcus Lemonis is the new CEO and I would give him a thumbs down.
