Pros

Great discount if you like their products. The most wonderful co-workers I have ever worked with, bar none. Flexible work schedule, ability to take time off (but not paid vacation until you've been there three years) -- good for people who just want a few hours as second job or moms to get out of the house.

Cons

Unfortunately, my experience at TCS did not quite match up to my expectations of a Fortune top company to work for. It seems their Employee First culture is rapidly sliding downhill. You don't get a lot of variety in your shifts, and will end up working the register for 5 hours a lot, unless you have put yourself in the good graces of the Store managers. There is no stability in scheduling for part-timers, you tell them when you are available, and you will get shifts all over the place that will wildly vary week to week. Some weeks you may get 10 hours, another week 25 hours with different days and different shifts. You can't depend on a set income. The other thing that surprised me is the blatant disregard for breaks during shorter shifts. Our state requires a paid break for every 4 hours worked, and not once in three years was I ever offered a paid break during 4 to 5 hour shifts. For a company that says they put their employees first, that's a little shocking. Since they went public, the general manager has become obsessed to the point of calling people out on the sales floor to the point everyone is scared to death of her. It's not a fun place to work anymore.

Pros

Everyone from director level on down in my department was great. Very collaborative. Gave you autonomy to do and try new things.

Cons

Where do I start…Sr. Leadership is TERRIBLE. I mean absolutely horrific. No direction and plans were changing at the drop of a dime after the BB&B “merger”. You could feel the shift in the culture, just NASTY attitudes and taking the employees for granted. The new CEO and the rest of Sr. level execs acted like everyone was just expendable workhorses. They touted reopening the headquarters cafe as some awesome benefit so they could bring people back to the office full time. If you’re going to be bullish and require everyone back, have some guts and just do it. But don’t act like a cafe is some life changing benefit to get everyone excited. Anyway, blind leading the blind. The merit increase or raises - non existent. No 401k match. Nothing positive because the company is so broke. The new store concept sounds a mess. Save yourself and don’t even apply, let alone accept an offer. Joel Bines is no longer the CEO. He was a great guy and I think he had great ideas. Marcus Lemonis is the new CEO and I would give him a thumbs down.
