Pros

People there have helpful intentions and will assist in guidance for the job. Great job for family life as they are open for assistance programs. Good job to start in and learn the business, but adjust expectations for additional responsibilities

Cons

Depending on your manager you may not have any idea on what the tasking you've been given is. Lack of managerial skills Little available vertical movement in the company. Expect 3-10 years for each promotion to be available. They followed the review guidelines of receiving a potential 5 out of 5, but managers explicitly state it's practically impossible to reach it. Discouraging

Pros

Good PTO, great coworkers (excluding management), hybrid work schedule

Cons

This place is a classic example, literally the epitome, of HR is there not for YOU but to protect the company plain and simple. You are nothing to upper management in Chicago and even lower than that to HR. Highly politicized office atmosphere, you must “play the game” to fit in here. Jealousy runs rampant and that 100% includes middle management of their team. Awful structure with no clear picture of how to climb the ladder unless you are a friend or family member of management, or at the very least, a man. This is a male dominated industry and while there are successful women that work here, they seem to have a harder time climbing up than their male counterparts. Nepotism is also a huge factor here. God forbid your middle management leader convince Topco to hire their personal friends, if so you will never ever succeed above them regardless of how much time and effort you put into your job. Beware of personal events such as a family death, they are not the most supportive company through those things. Unless of course you are a manager.
