Pros
Great work/life balance, depending on position and department there is room for creativity and initiative; superb benefits; between myriad of daily talks across campus, campus training and employee-reduced UCLA extension courses there is room for learning and improvement. Beautiful campus, nice people, great environment to work in. Great place to be if one likes students and idiosyncratic people.
Cons
There is a cast system, determined by academic degree, that prevents people from rising through ranks, irrespective of ability, intelligence or commitment. Salaries tend to be low but benefits are really good.
