Pros
* No work load. Simply because there is no growth if you are a tester. You can treat the studio like a cyber cafe, even you work hard, your work will be undermined. Shouldn't write it here in 'Pros' but ...eh * Transparent work flow. Every employee is kept on loop with every project related email. Apparently this is one of the few things that I liked. * Clear studio wide updates. They use something called as mana, its like facebook but only for Ubi employees. I read about some awesome interviews from other employees from other ubisoft studios in that particular platform. * Allows employees to purchase stock. The investment depends upon your tenure but its very profitable.
Cons
* Worst pay out. * Absolutely trashy work life balance (If you are not from Maharashtra and pay your rent and bills, you will beg for necessities at the end of the month). * No growth. I repeat NO GROWTH IF YOU ARE A TESTER. Every MNC in the world follows some sort of regulations for employee goals. In Ubisoft its called OKR's (Objectives and key learnings). Goals are very important, even google, IBM, EA follow goals. But the problem with Ubisoft Pune is the fact that it does not matter what goals you have. And trust me, the goals are stupid as hell. When I was in Ubi, one of my goals was 'Making sure not to breach NDA', as if, if I breach NDA, I will tell anyone 'Oh I broke my NDA, sir. I will not do it again'. When I moved out of Ubisoft, I realized that companies give goals top most priority, because thats how employees learn, grow and deliver at the same time. * Negligible hike (Mine was 300 bucks. Funny, I spend more on cigarettes weekly). You get two bonuses yearly and a small hike once a year. The bonus at the beginning of the year will be a small amount, which will make you think you might get more in the second bonus before the end of the year. Which you will get but there's a catch. The second bonus is paired with the hike, so they will add a huge bonus in your pay check and give a 300 rupee hike to show a hefty amount in your salary slip. Yes, thats how they fool you. You can ask everyone at ubisoft if you think I'm wrong. * There is no response or change from management when employees give feedback. And this includes not just the HR but your immediate team leads too. If you are a junior, your seniors will look at you as you have committed a crime delivering feedback. This happened to me once, and my senior thought I was complaining about him. Started acting aggressive for no reason. * Employee benefits are a joke. I hope this has changed but when I was in UBI, employees were not given insurance coverage for their parents but only spouse and children, while 68 % of employees were unmarried hahaha. HR is too busy painting rangoli and organising events while employee grievances are at a toss. I remember getting a third quality T shirt, a 1000 rupee amazon gift card and Ferrero rocher for diwali. Lmao. Other companies spend more on Fun Friday reward on a weekly basis. Im a living proof. I have made more money at Glu playing fun friday contests than my YEARLY BONUSES in UBI. Thats not a joke, I calculated rupee by rupee. * Stupid feedback from leads. I recall one of my managers in my review saying I have less S1 bugs and more S2 and S3 bugs and so less hike, funny he was the one who was assigning task and giving me UI to work on. There was no shuffle with task. Finding S1 bugs in UI is fairly difficult while people at gameplay and save/load features keep throwing blocker after blocker. And these people don't wanna grow themselves or else they would have left Ubi by now. They have become managers with too little knowledge and know that if they apply for a job somewhere else, they will probably get rejected. * If you are not a fresher and want to switch to UBI from other org with an experience, this is for you. If agreed, the company might give you a decent package after clearing your interview but it will still be the same afterwards. There will no career growth, and you will die trying for a good hike and bonus. If you apply somewhere else, you might get a small package, but with a decent hike, your salary will grow faster than it ever will in Ubisoft Pune.
