Pros

Meaningful Work: As a Music Content Specialist, I get to work on my regional language music content for one of the popular streaming platform, which is both challenging and rewarding. It’s fulfilling to contribute to a platform that connects millions of users to their favorite songs. Global Collaboration: The opportunity to work with teams across the US, UK, and India has been a great learning experience. The company fosters a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives are valued. Skill Development: Welocalize encourages continuous learning. I’ve gained expertise in metadata management, lyric transcription, and quality assurance, which are valuable skills in the localization and music industries. Work-Life Balance: The company respects personal time, and the remote work setup allows for flexibility. Supportive Management: My manager and HR have been approachable and supportive, especially during the onboarding process.

Cons

Cons: Repetitive Tasks: Some aspects of the role, like lyric synchronization and metadata editing, can feel repetitive over time. However, this is inherent to the nature of the job. Communication Gaps: Occasionally, there are delays in communication between global teams due to time zone differences.

Pros

When there is work available, especially when this project first launched, you could make decent money. The Quality Improvement Program was once realistic and managers were accessible. They used to give us sick leave and it felt like a real job.

Cons

They took away our sick leave. Barely any work since Christmas, around 5 hours per week if you're lucky. The Quality Improvement Program has gone down the toilet. The quality checks constantly contradict the guidelines and the feedback from management is often contradictory and wildly inconsistent depending on the turnover. Lower level employees are constantly afraid of losing their job because there are random firings every quarter with no explanation.
