    Pros

Absolutely none, I would rather be unemployed

    Cons

Absolutely awful company. The pay is terrible, NO training is given, just told to 'learn as you go'. There are no benefit packages in place. There is no such thing as work life balance, reward and recognition or appraisals. Everyone is set in 'enercon' ways with NO room for any change. An embarrassing company to work for.

    Advice to Management

Have trust in employees, look at competitors salary. Rewrite the whole organisation.

I worked at Enercon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - high level of individual responsibility
    - motivated and professional colleagues
    - an amazing place for young engineers and professionals to learn and grow
    - in 5 years you can go from fresh out of university to a seasoned professional
    - well recognized company across Canada and internationally

    Cons

    - increasingly bureaucratic environment
    - minimal opportunity for advancement beyond 5 years or so

    Advice to Management

Realize the value in experienced employees and work harder to challenge and motivate them with new opportunities.

I have been working at Enercon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Green Industry
    -Lots of challenges
    -Opportunity to travel
-Very flexible environment (work hours, decision making, etc.)
    -Growing Company (Internationally)

    Cons

-Company divisions are managed in silo
-Lack of recognition towards efforts and successes
    -Resistant to change
    -Operations are overlooked

    Advice to Management

Although there is much to improve or even integrate in the company's infrastructure to make it better and more competitive, that is where and why I believe that Enercon is a good environment for professionnal and personnal growth.

Based on the above statement, my advice would be the following:

Build an employee's recognition program for remarkable and relevant project closures and/or effort results.

Build career development programs for key players, champions or anybody wanting to grow within the company.

Focus more on operations in order to make it more lean, efficient and cost effective.

Litteraly annihilate the silo management culture to enhance communications and teamwork.

I have been working at Enercon full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Interesting & highly technological products in a growing sector
    - High degree of freedom
    - Nice colleagues

    Cons

    - Lacking vision: the product line and everything else was, and still is, very focused on the German home market
    - Non-existent HR policy: random remuneration, career development, ...
    - One-way traffic between the subsequent hierarchic layers: suggestions are hardly ever being taken into account by the ones capable of changing the systems in place, even if loads of money could be saved by doing so
    - Major fluctuation

    Advice to Management

Get your act together, and broaden your perspective in two principal ways:
    - focus on emerging markets in order not to lag behind the competitors
    - align your HR policy with the fact that Germany might no longer be your center of gravity, and realize that people moving elsewhere being fed up with the random HR policies is costing you tons of money

I have been working at Enercon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company name which is well known in the industry, and is still a synonym for quality. Very reliable products. Flexibility and work-life balance.

    Cons

Good company name but company out of touch with the market; quality products at a high premium are difficult to sell in a changing market where big utilities are taking over (and who are not interested in a low risk, expensive product) and where Europe (Enercon's biggest market) is pushing for public tendering where low-cost products will prevail. Difficult times ahead.

Complete and utter lack of HR management. No professional HR structure existing. No performance reviews. No feedback on your prestations. Salary increase or career advancement random process. Good performers leave, middle and bad performers stay. HR section on Enercon website couldn't be more out of touch with reality.

Salaries are ad hoc (huge differences for people on the same level) and updated either randomly or (more probably) just not. Enercon takes advantage of people willing to work in the green sector, to negotiate low salaries. With the consequence that good performers never even accept the offer or leave very fast as soon as they understand that there is no such thing as increases based on merit.

No internal communication, management is not interested in receiving or giving feedback.

    Advice to Management

Consider changing some of your basic strategy, and follow the trend in the market where cost of energy is of the upmost importance.

Hire good professional outside people (pay them at market prices) who have experience with change management and who receive the authority to clean out the organization (also the higher level management layers).

Abandon the current strategy to promote people based on their German language skills and good relations with existing management, and install a proper HR structure which pushes people merit based.

Get rid of the 'mañana-mañana' culture, motivate people to do their work.

    Communicate with your staff.
