I have been working at Equity Methods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The learning is incredible, great training to start and there are plenty of smart co-workers to get help when needed. Work time is flexible, a lot of challenges, perks, and fun people to work with.

    Cons

Peak reporting periods are demanding, but I think the highs and lows even themselves out.

    Advice to Management

Keep the great environment and continue to grow. That's what makes it exciting.

I have been working at Equity Methods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A really great place to work. Lots of training and learning opportunities when you start. Early exposure to client work.

You will get to work with smart, motivated, and fun individuals. Fast-paced work environment, so you will be pushed to work hard and deliver high-quality results.

Entrepreneurial culture, and management is very open to new ideas.

The company cares about employee development, so you really have a lot of say as to what kind of projects you want to be involved in and what kind of work you want to focus on.

    Cons

The workload can get quite heavy during quarter-ends, but I believe that it's still not as busy as typical accounting or consulting firms

I have been working at Equity Methods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not your average accounting job. You will quickly develop a large array of skills working here. Immediate access to Fortune 100 clients, challenging work, very fun and friendly culture, and the ability to make big contributions fast. A lot of flexibility around getting your work done.

    Cons

Be prepared to put in significant hours during peak periods (Usually 4 times a year).

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing.

I have been working at Equity Methods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fast paced environment that will keep you learning new things everyday. Very laid back culture, and the small size gives you easy access to senior employees. Easy to ask for help from anyone, and your responsibilities will grow very quickly. Awesome access to fortune 100 companies.

    Cons

The knowledge required to do this job is so niche that few schools will teach it in detail. This means the learning curve is pretty steep for the first few months. Not everyone can handle that well. Be prepared to put in some hours during peak reporting periods as the workload does get pretty demanding.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with providing good feedback.

    Pros

Excellent culture (smart people, collaboration, focus on employees)
Solid career progression and development potential
Large clients, intellectually stimulating work, exposure to business decision making
Performance over politics (rewards go to those pulling their weight)
International colleagues (this is very, very fun)
Openness to doing things better (if you have a great idea you can get it implemented without roadblocks)
Many different channels available for influencing how things are done, even for new associates

    Cons

Although intellectually stimulating, the work is demanding
If you hate deadlines, this place isn't for you!
More skills are expected to move up the food chain here than at more typical consulting firms (the bright side is that you won't get stuck working for someone who is incompetent)

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring good people and going after growth

    -Relaxed environment
-Learn SAS very quickly, which is a GREAT line on a resume
-Very smart employees who are fun to work with
-No longer a part of Bank of America / Merrill Lynch! Way better than before! Much better! Do not consider reviews from before.

    Cons

-Hours can be very, very long at times
-Everyone is very busy - can be difficult to get help from others

    Advice to Management

Keep growing - you have the assets and employees to expand the array of consulting services provided!
Maybe consider hiring more employees to reduce hours.

    Pros

Smart people, market leader, entrepreneurial environment inside a big bank. Has the Bank of America Merrill Lynch name and backing which helps your resume.

    Cons

Disorganized. Not a lot of upward mobility unless you look towards Bank of America / Merrill Lynch for career progression. Too many employees have the attitude that they need to constantly prove their worth - like a kid who was tormented in high school lashing out. Not a fun place to be. Not enough out-of-work activities between employees. Work-a-holic bosses who dish out low pay yet expect the same 60 hours a week from employees. Spineless management cannot fill open reqs when desperately needed, so they just give excuse after excuse. Senior managers fear their bosses, which limits their effectiveness.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to create an atmosphere that is more fun to work at instead of simply focusing on clients. Without a good, energetic, and happy staff, customers won't even matter. Unhappy employees = high turnover. What turnover rate do you need before you realize this? 33%?
