I have been working at Euronext full-time

    Pros

You are treated with respect and you are compensated for the overtime (payment per hour). This is rare in Portugal.

    Cons

Very disorganized, went from 0 employees to 100 in less than 6 months. Very hard to be organized when you grow so fast and the decision is abroad.

    Pros

    Great exposure to IPO markets

    Cons

The group is now smaller since separation with NYSE and therefore fewer opportunities to grow internally.

    I worked at Euronext full-time

    Pros

The pros in Euronext are many and it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge that this is a highly flexible working environment where individuals are self-starters, and left to manage their own work in their own manner. Dress code is casual and nobody particularly keeps an eye on time keeping. The technologies are a frenetic mixture of old and new as the company continues in majoritivly C++ and adopting new as 3rd party and GUI development grows.

    Cons

The downside here is a symptom of a historic organisation suddenly finding itself IPO'd and able to manage itself. The power and decision making sits firmly in Paris and it can be frustating trying to get engagement if you aren't in that office. The company is moving in the right direction though, standardisation of practice and tools are going a long way introducing CI and CT with devops and agile.

    Advice to Management

SImplify, simplify, simplify. Concentrate on planning and project management for smoother project signoff and transition. The chaos can often be too much.

    I worked at Euronext full-time

    Pros

Lots of heritage and tradition reclaimed after separation from NYSE/ICE. Mostly Paris based with a close second location in Amsterdam. A relaxed feel about th place but with rigerous business practices and objectives.

    Cons

Can lack in process and formality, so one can be kept guessing a some of the time. You will ideally be French speaking although some technical resource in Belfast (historical reasons)

    Advice to Management

Keep refining process and fitting the right people into the right job, take a broader look at background skills of employees.

I have been working at Euronext full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

No micromanagement, relaxed hours, telecommuting, good food, wellness, lots of holidays, various benefits, better pay than average in software, a mix of professions

    Cons

Behind the curve technologically, resistance from the incumbents, harsh office politics, often only consultants do what is interesting, the work is mainly maintenance and integration, little innovation

    Advice to Management

Be courageous to change the culture and value merit.

    Pros

Relaxed and friendly work environment. Work/ Life balance is not lost.
Immediate managers do listen and you feel as part of team. Opportunities to develop your skills are provided.

    Cons

Compensation is on the average side compared to the rest of the market and you really need to negotiate for a good raise.

    Pros

You are in the center of Paris Financial market community, the company is re-inventing itself, good opportunity for "new blood".

    Cons

Constant changes - cannot concentrate on one project and see fruit of your labor. Some sympthoms of penny-pinching disguised as cost savings.
