    I worked at Euronext full-time

    Pros

Fast-pace exchange looking to participate in the consolidation of the business Europe-wide.

    Cons

Lack of real strategic direction or plan, shareholder stytructure with conflicts of interest and not particularly interested in growth, only in fast profit.

    Advice to Management

Decide what to do with the company and act accordingly.

I have been working at Euronext full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good working environment, new facilities. Reasonably high pay. Solid company, work stability.

    Cons

Bureaucratic heritage — not a software house even though their product is software. Doesn't seem aware of the job market. Too many C'Os, too many teams (some overlap and oversizing) in too short a period.

    Advice to Management

Apply and publish salary grids. Don't keep people who don't meet the goals. Be agile, don't just say you are. Cut on the management layers. Bad location (little public transportation, can be hard to park).

I have been working at Euronext full-time

    Pros

You are treated with respect and you are compensated for the overtime (payment per hour). This is rare in Portugal.

    Cons

Very disorganized, went from 0 employees to 100 in less than 6 months. Very hard to be organized when you grow so fast and the decision is abroad.

    Pros

    Great exposure to IPO markets

    Cons

The group is now smaller since separation with NYSE and therefore fewer opportunities to grow internally.

    I worked at Euronext full-time

    Pros

The pros in Euronext are many and it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge that this is a highly flexible working environment where individuals are self-starters, and left to manage their own work in their own manner. Dress code is casual and nobody particularly keeps an eye on time keeping. The technologies are a frenetic mixture of old and new as the company continues in majoritivly C++ and adopting new as 3rd party and GUI development grows.

    Cons

The downside here is a symptom of a historic organisation suddenly finding itself IPO'd and able to manage itself. The power and decision making sits firmly in Paris and it can be frustating trying to get engagement if you aren't in that office. The company is moving in the right direction though, standardisation of practice and tools are going a long way introducing CI and CT with devops and agile.

    Advice to Management

SImplify, simplify, simplify. Concentrate on planning and project management for smoother project signoff and transition. The chaos can often be too much.
