    Pros

Great colleagues Beer taps Dogs in the office For the coffee inclined, the barista makes a great cup Lots of exposure with high profile clients Fantastic security focussed DevOps Ticket to Ride Occasional Company Event Opportunity to work an admin role at one of the many events held throughout the year.

    Cons

    - Salary - Management - Middle-management - Salary - Management and middle-management - Salary - Employees will be hung out to dry for executing a terribly flawed vision, created and pushed by (you guessed it) middle management. - Patronization and condescension from the People team. - Values are listed everywhere but not adhered to - Strong arming of role responsibilities

    Advice to Management

EB has been a truly fantastic place to learn and grow over the years, but it has become like a scorned lover. The effort you pour into your job will never be reciprocated. It’s an environment that breeds mental illness. Because of this, the company now has a reputation for how staff are used and spat out. Eventbase, you can do better. Take care of your staff and listen to them. “Always Play Fair”.

    Pros

    * Some great people * Fun Environment * Flexible Work Hours * Dog Friendly * Onsite Barista * Periodic Cultural Events * Fun Office

    Cons

    * No proper career paths or growth plans for staff * Tension between services and product portion of company * Still sales-driven while pretending not to be * Largely incompetent management

    Advice to Management

Oh boy, where to start... Eventbase has the potential to be a great company, but has a lot to learn, and so many many challenges. They claim to be an 'Event Technology' company, but in the year since that moniker was brandished, I haven't seen much in the way of focus, investment, or ideation on that area. This is a hallmark of the company - empty slogans that can't be followed through on. The mission, growth plan,...

    Cons

    - High staff turnover - No adherence to company's "Core Values" - Non existent leadership or a clear management role - Management is killing the morale, fun and spirit that once were the core of the company's culture - Constant office movement between floors and offices - Non standardized training, development, career path or motivational tools

    Advice to Management

    - Do everything you can to make the transition as smooth as possible when let people go. Let Go of Employees With Love and Dignity. They gave their best to the company while employed there. They deserve a better exit. - Listen to all your employees in order to find ways to keep them instead than firing them or letting them walk away. They are the assets of your company. They are smart, you know? -Do hire people over...

I have been working at Eventbase full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Dogs, in-office barista, beer, bean bags, nice office space, the usual tech company stuff. Good coworkers for the most part. I'm happy with my salary, but not everyone is.

    Cons

This ship changes directions so often that they're literally sailing around in a circle and everyone can see it except the captains. Financial projections look about 2 months into the future, so it's constantly, "Everything is great! Full steam ahead!" and then 5 weeks later, "Oh no! Throw 10 people overboard and turn around!" Don't even get me started on the product. I would complain about HR but we know they're just...

    Advice to Management

Pick a course and stick with it for a little while. Also the fake transparency at the monthly meetings is getting tired.

    Pros

    - Great co-workers (not leadership or HR) - Dogs - Free coffee

    Cons

    - Leadership treats people like a transaction - HR is barely HR...tells us to deal with our issues by ourselves when we don't have the training to handle sensitive situations - Low pay and they will low-ball you when giving an offer - Takes advantage of juniors with the promise of growth when there is none - No career paths - Overtime and no pay unless it's approved ahead of time - They fire at least 5-15 people...

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and find ways to keep them rather than firing them or letting them walk away. You can hire as many inexpensive juniors as you'd like but without talented and senior people to provide mentorship and guidance, you're just running a grade C business. HR needs to get up from their high horse and actually help their people. Rather than yelling about your people are "so spoiled and that we don't...

    Pros

It is a mid-sized startup with a relatively good structure where you do what you were hired to, but have plenty of opportunities to learn and evolve. The clients and projects are pretty stable year over year. Everyone is pretty approachable so it is easy to make contacts in sales, marketing , production or R&D to get different perspectives - and learn about all the things that go into what makes a company

    Cons

More professional development opportunities would be nice. There is an atmosphere of consensus that makes it difficult to push truly innovative idea through,

I worked at Eventbase full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great office. Dogs, coffee, beer, and flexible hours. Employees have the opportunity to travel and attend events. Great client list.

    Cons

Every quarter there is such a focus on selling and delivering big new projects with a bare minimum of staff. Technical debt is ignored in favour of "innovations" that are cobbled together to please marquee clients in the short-term. The ship is sinking, but rather than fixing the holes, all hands are focused on hoisting the pretty new sales. I think it's too late.

    Advice to Management

Changing course every three months doesn't solve the problem; it just distracts the despondent crew. It makes me sad to write such a negative review when I used to be hopeful.

    I worked at Eventbase full-time

    Pros

    - Start-up vibe. - Full of young talented people. - Dogs. - Beer. - The event technology industry is more exciting than you might think. - Nice environment to grow and get experience if it is your first or second job. - You may travel to do on-site to support exciting events and places. - You can approach the co-founders easily to chat. - Nice and well-located offices. - Success is acknowledged.

    Cons

    - Definitively not a place to work at if you have lots of experience in your field. You may find yourself in a growth dead-end pretty quickly and there aren't any serious career-path plans. - Pay is fair if you're a junior, but not so competitive for more seasoned professionals in the software industry. - Despite their eloquence and flowing egos, the middle management layer is rather mediocre at its best and pretty...

    Advice to Management

    - Get real: The product is good but it needs to be excellent. You've already lost traction on the innovation path. - The platform needs a real software re-architecture in order to scale. Stop applying band-aids and hacking stuff together to enhance the product. Pay your technical debt, and build an enterprise-grade platform. - Stop improvising and do a better job with your product SDLC and increase the resource allocation...
