I worked at First Response Ambulance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Experience for entry level emts. Supervisors work with your life circumstances and hardships. Their ems connections are great for advancement opportunities.

    Cons

They play favoritism and depending on who the supervisor is they can just critique what you do e.i how you fill out the transport form for not apparent reason

    Advice to Management

    Stop playing favoritism.

I worked at First Response Ambulance part-time

    Pros

The few partners I was able to work with were fairly competent and a joy to work with

    Cons

Ambulances were falling apart, nothing was maintained, did not stock sheets and were required to find them at a hospital, equipment not always provided.

    Advice to Management

Hire more, provide competitive wages to encourage better employee behavior, provide equipment in accordance to NYS Part 800 without making people jump through hoops.

Former Employee - Paramedic in Inwood, NY

    Pros

    Uniform provided
    New ambulances
    Relaxed atmosphere
All equipment is provided, quick restocking
Everyone knows each other by name
    Practically no supervision

    Cons

    No direct deposit
    Biweekly pay
Equipment doesn't work (IVAC pumps, some Vents)
    Long hours when mandated
Base is located far from civilization
    Low pay compared to others

    Advice to Management

Management needs to have an actual orientation for new hires, and train them. There is very little Quality Assurance going on. Just profit sharing and bossing around.
