    Pros

I was C-level management for about 7 years before I left and was reasonably well compensated. When I left most of the original British management had already gone and it was all Americans. The Brits were okay and the Americans could have been better if they had a strong leader.

    Cons

But, they didn't have a strong leader. Every division President did their own thing in a vacuum and the overall result was chaos. Revolving doors at every level of upper management.

    Advice to Management

I wouldn't throw pearls before swine.

I worked at FirstGroup America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good, solid well run company. Great CFO.

    Cons

CEO is a condescending tyrant with very poor people skills and doesn't understand the business. Very high stress environment with little work/life balance.

    Pros

    The location of the office

    Cons

Management (snakes) I worked as a contractor I was told that I was replacing someone who would not be returning. On my second day the person showed up at work. I was then told not to worry they had plenty of work for me. I went home on Thursday and the agency called and said they did need me no more.

    Advice to Management

You need to learn when you got a good worker. You would not have such a high turn over.

I have been working at FirstGroup America part-time

    Pros

I signed up for health coverage last month of school bus driving, knowing that I would have unemployment coverage will be able to assist the payments throughout the summer.
Someone in office denied I worked at first student which is still under investigation. I asked first student to cut off benifts until Sept. When school and the money is coming back in and I would re-sign up this fall.
I just got a letter that they don't respond to hardship matters only a qualifying event like a marriage or birth. So being absolutely broke is not good enough to help their employee out ?
I haven't used any benifts at all, no services rendered!!

    Cons

Everything! Staff is very one sided, not family oriented at all. They don't care for well being.
So sad because they contract with a system I enjoy working with.
I have been an employee of zero accidents zero injury's in the work place and this is how they take care of employees in hardships!

    Advice to Management

Not an enjoyable place to work. Need to change qualified event- hardship in your Health benifts contract!
Your company made my hardship I'm an employee!

I worked at FirstGroup America full-time

    Pros

Great Co-workers across the board. Firstgroup provides quality transportation services.

    Cons

Management is demanding and constantly changes focus on their path to success. I have worked under 8 different CFO's since I started.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what your are doing and have respect for your employees.

I have been working at FirstGroup America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There was a lot going on when I worked there. No shortage of projects to work on .

    Cons

Nobody really seemed to know who was responsible for doing what. This created a culture of chaos.

    Advice to Management

I'm not sure what the situation is like now, but pick a business strategy and stick to it. Waffling all the time about what is to be done and who is to do it doesn't foster an environment of confidence in leadership.

I worked at FirstGroup America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

None! There were a few decent people, but they quickly would move on to other companies.

    Cons

Pay was a JOKE! Leadership: a revolving door. Benefits: PATHETIC! I worked here for almost exactly 5 years. When I hit my 5 year mark I was in the process of completing my Masters Degree, relevant to my position nonetheless, which should have meant an increase in salary and by corporate policy was due an additional week increase in paid vacation. Along with my "performance" raise. Which should have catapulted me far past the cap for my position... So how do they reward loyalty, dedication and self improvement? By showing me the door. Best thing that ever happened though! I'm happier now doing something worthwhile for a great company for far more than what this place paid... I still have acquaintances there who are stuck and miserable.

I worked at FirstGroup America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Most of the people you work with are nice. Good flexibility (WFH) in some departments. Nice office location.

    Cons

Management is a joke, they pay millions of dollars on average, every 3 years to bring in "management" companies to revamp the entire company direction, thus there has never been a stable environment. They don't care about their employees and have annual to bi-annual layoffs. Their benefits are a JOKE! They only approve tuition reimbursement if you are part of the "club". They refuse to promote women.

    Advice to Management

Show some respect for your employees. Stop bilking the company for out of policy travel and entertainment. If you stayed in policy here, you'd be able to retain employees and even give them a raise higher than 1% annually (that's for the entire department folks!)
