I worked at For Eyes full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

You get to meet a lot of different people and if you stick with it for long enough you get to see people grow up. If you're a masochist you should work here.

    Cons

They keep adding on the pressure and the work without increased compensation over the years. New employees make more money even if they have less experience than you. Took away part of the commission. Increased sales goals in 2019 8%-40% over last year (yes you read that correctly). Standard for the industry is a 5% increase. They did this so that they did not have to pay out monthly bonuses. The number of paid holidays have been reduced. Corporate keeps making bad decisions and does not learn from them.

I worked at For Eyes full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Giving your notice and leaving! (There are actually still some wonderful associates and managers scattered throughout the company, but they're leaving rapidly.)

    Cons

This was once a company that valued their associates and in turn the associates fostered an environment that encouraged relationship building with patients so that an optician at For Eyes was seen as a trusted adviser not a pushy salesperson. This led to low turnover among staff and a tremendous percentage of repeat and word-of-mouth customers. Now, the company treats the associates with contempt. Individual product incentive bonuses were eliminated in November, 2019. Goals are made impossibly high so that the company can avoid paying store bonuses. Raises are non-existent or based upon your ability to achieve the insane goals. Failure to achieve the goals could result in your hours being cut on top of having no viable shot at any bonus. The constant turnover in management means the next chaotic change in direction is never more than a few months away. 4 CEOs in 4 years! 3 of the CEOs have either had no knowledge of the optical industry in the US or no knowledge of the optical industry at all. The only thing they have in common is incompetence and a disdain for the associates that actually do the work. The district manager turnover has been even more rapid than the CEO turnover. The over/under for a DM is 6 months. If you need to do a thesis or dissertation on how NOT to run a company, this company should be your case study.

I worked at For Eyes full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Most customers were great to work with and associates as well.

    Cons

Corporate had no idea how stores were being ran, most of time when you would ask for help upper management would expect you to figure out. Much worse with new CEO.

I have been working at For Eyes

    Pros

    Close to home. Fellow employees.

    Cons

You always feel like you could lose your job at any moment, upper management does not listen to staff or store managers. They keep giving more work, no pay increases, no appreciation, just this is what is expected if you don’t want to do it we will find someone that will. Policies and procedures keep changing, upper management and company heads keep changing. To much stress and anxiety, they make you feel like if your not hitting goals then it must be you and your staffs behaviors!!! Stop raising prices and making it harder for is to save customers.

    Pros

Some of the people who work there are bright and dedicated employees, but everyone is looking for a way out already.

    Cons

Upper management changes are constant. No strategy, lots and lots of constant organizational restructuring. Latest upper management treats everyone like a bunch of idiots and just dictates orders. Parent company does not understand the markets and keeps sending its people with optical experience but they are clueless about the US market and workplace, and they’re not willing to take the time to listen and understand. Don’t be fooled by empty promises of company growth at interviews. They keep closing stores and the new ones recently opened are all one big flop.
