I have been working at Greggs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

worked through ranks from weekend assist to GM, good but overly complicated training program's, fun place to work.

    Cons

Micro managed by area managers, no innovation or freedom. Harder than it looks!

    Advice to Management

Allow store managers freedom to deal with issues, and have authority to make on the ground decisions

I have been working at Greggs part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and working conditions.Good benefits, company pension, sick pay, VERY generous staff discount scheme. Most importantly a very generous profit share bonus yearly. Good opportunities for career progression, with support and development available to those that want it. Great team within shop and company.

    Cons

More rigerous interviews for new staff members, training should be taken more seriously with more time available for staff members.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff, take on their ideas more. Shop floor staff have valuable product and sales knowledge from the front line come talk with them about product development, ask them what customers are asking for. We may be the lowest rung on the ladder but we are the face of the company.

I worked at Greggs (More than a year)

    Pros

50% discount on items, good managers. If you want more work they're eager to take you on or give you shifts at other branches

    Cons

Early mornings and very hectic work. It gets a bit routine which can be good or bad depending on preference.

    Advice to Management

Employees should be rewarded more for hard work, there should be more social events outside of work.

I have been working at Greggs full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Full training, good relationship to colleagues and the manager, 21 days of holidays, break throughout your working day

    Cons

They ask too much for what they give. Many hours and not enough colleagues to cover all of them. They pay too less the team member and the management staff as well. For example, they pay a Team Member 7,47 £ per hour; the Senior Team Member 7,95 £ per hour. It means that for 20 £ per week they can ask you to: open an close the shop, cover hours in another shop, counting all the stocks, face all complaints, manage the team, cleaning, count all the money, responsibilities, etc.

    Advice to Management

My shop Manager has been an excellent guide for all of us. I think they should change something at the top. They should pay people more, otherwise just a few would remain.

I have been working at Greggs part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great working atmosphere. Totally relaxed and can have a laugh even when busy.

    Cons

Awful pay for the labour involved. Something wrong with your back or your legs every week due to heavy lifting. Hours range anything from minimum 16 hour contract all the way up to near 40 hours. I'm only part-time.

    Advice to Management

Employ 4 members of management rather than 3 per store. Staff struggle when one person is on holiday.
Raise pay to at least £8 an hour. You can't live off £7.47 unless you're doing full time which you don't provide unless you're an assistant manager or a shop manager.
