    I worked at Gtech full-time

    Pros

    Good benefits
    Nice office
    Only 1 month notice period

    Cons

Management scared to point out issues, as owner/CEO fires people as soon as he hears bad things from them
Owner/CEO refuses to hear about any issues, and if he hasn't heard about them there are no problems
Owner/CEO refuses to pay for quality (products, design, components)
All directors (except for owner) were got rid of for no reason
No ideas are approved of, except for the MD's
HR department got rid of, probably because they were telling the Owner/CEO about issues

    Advice to Management

If you want quality, you need to pay for it.
Just because the owner says it, doesn't mean it's right.
Reducing your quality team doesn't get rid of issues with products, just means you don't know them

    Pros

    Free Parking?
    Reasonably nice offices?

    Cons

If you want job security like a house of cards, this is the place to be.

If you want to experience unnecessary rushed product design first hand, this is the place to be.

If want to see people who actually care about product quality and design get pushed out of the company and made redundant, this is the place to be.

99% of the employees at Gtech are amazing people. It's a massive shame that Nick Grey (CEO) is so focused on ruining the products that are produced by draining every ounce of quality out of them in the form of "cost reduction".

The word quality is rarely even used anymore.

The stories I could tell about some of the things that have gone on in this place are so amazing that you would think that I am making them up, because of how utterly ridiculous they are.

    Advice to Management

Nick Grey (CEO) needs to take a long hard look at himself. He honestly believes that he has an understanding of what goes on within his company, when really he is a guy who is scared of anyone slightly more intelligent than him, which is most people.

If he doesn't understand something, it must be wrong because there is no way that he is wrong!

No management wants to speak against him because they know that he will just fire them.

    Pros

They literally don't expect you to do any work what so ever (doing your job properly or at all would increase the likely hood of being handed your P45).

The car park always has loads of free spaces (probably due to the on-going redundancies).

Management give you loads of autonomy over your work (mostly because they have no idea whats going on or how to complete basic work related tasks themselves).

There's good outlook for career progression (if you are driven by internal company politics and take little interest in progressing within your chosen field).

You get paid (an under market value salary).

There's a lot variety in the work (as a result of management chopping and changing what they want as they have no plan or strategy).

The whole experience was essentially like being on an episode of Punk'd (except when I handed in my notice MTV didn't pop out with loads of cameras and surprise me).

    Cons

I learnt how not to run a company (may be one of the most valuable things I will learn, thanks Gtech).

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing (this should ensure the company will likely go out of business in the near future).

    I worked at Gtech full-time

    Pros

    * New office facility with plenty of desk space following lots of recent redundancies
*AirRam product is a well established product - but product quality issues are common, due to a lack of development testing.

    Cons

    * Based on recent history, it would appear that waves of redundancy are common and high staff turnover is apparent. This is partly fuelled by frustrations with lack of process and project timescales slipping all the time.
*Lack of a formalised product road map with ideas seemingly developed on a whim and others often discarded without full consideration as to how they could be implemented
*Apart from vacuum cleaners, a scatter gun approach to developing new product categories
*Lack of a decisive middle management structure, most of which seem to defer making decisions for the CEO to ultimately decide.
    * Strategy ?

    Advice to Management

Set a clear vision for future company direction and allow people to make decisions, instead of the constant debate of trying to second guess what the CEO wanted, or just leaving all decisions for them to take.

    Pros

Easy to do nothing here and stay employed.

    Cons

Company laid off much of the workforce over the last few months. I jumped, wasn't pushed. But rnd has been shut down, engineering whittled down and model making capability reduced.

Very questionable promotions of people to senior roles - even with 0 experience in the field.

Appalling management. Ridiculous projects run at the behest of the CEO beside all common sense.

    Don't work here.

I worked at Gtech full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good facilities and some good people to work with across different departments

    Cons

As per one of the other reviews, the company has been recently making a lot of redundancies and progressing the wrong people into the wrong roles. It seems like such “restructuring” was done with no prior planning-something that is common place at Gtech. All problems ultimately stem from very poor leadership in senior management, predominantly from the CEO. Product development is focused on one persons opinion and is all about cutting corners to save cost over quality, a terrible combination.

    Advice to Management

Create a clear strategy for the company, including a real product road map and a plan to identify and develop the correct employees. Get some bottle to communicate decisions clearly as they happen, not hide in your office all day.

I have been working at Gtech part-time

    Pros

    - Great benefits
    - Fab working environment
    - Amazing people - like a family
    - Large cog - not just a number
    - Interesting, varied work and very busy!

    Cons

    - A great company if you like to be busy
    - Not as much structure and policy/process as big corporate's which could be a downside if you like or are used to being very process driven, however, I enjoy the flexibility and autonomy that this brings

    Advice to Management

    Keep listening

I worked at Gtech (More than a year)

    Pros

Based in really nice converted barn offices in nice country surroundings. Fairly relaxed and airy work environment. Colleagues were all top notch, so great people there.

    Cons

Some of the usual downsides to working in a relatively small and fast growing company, however I was quite happy there.
