Pros

Great coworkers. Other than management, some of the best, most kind-hearted people in the world.

Cons

Management is spiteful and threatened by any change, real or imagined. There is no advancement possible, which compounds the fact that wages are substantially below the norm. Your manager will sabotage you with fabricated evidence at least once every three months. Otherwise they may have no reason to deny wage increases. ISO 9001 and A2LA standards have nothing to do with quality. It is instead a blame game where the buck is passed because the attrition rate is so high that quality ends up being so low. New hires leave within two weeks. As soon as someone reaches their 2 years, they leave for greener pastures. But the thrust of the negative rating on this review stems from the treatment of actual innovation. Devising a faster, more efficient process that reduces errors is heresy. You will be punished. Given the above, I would advise against working here for any reason. However, well before this pandemic there wasn’t work for any department. Currently the holding company that owns Humanetics is in the process of “rebranding”, the process by which foreign investors are acquiring a diverse range of holdings, stripping them bare, and shifting work to the usual places. I would be surprised if Humanetics existed at all in the United States beyond this year.

Humanetics Group Response
5y
Thank you for your feedback. No employer ever likes to get this feedback from an employee, and indeed most of our employees have a long tenure of building their careers at Humanetics. Most of our employees thrive off the opportunity to deliver solutions and responding to engineering problems that can help save lives. Certainly, our track record of leading the industry in safety technology and innovation is thanks to the past achievements of our engineers. Our rebrand is part of a very positive program to drive growth across Humanetics Group companies as we expand across markets, drive new product innovation and enter into new sectors. Our new external websites are a starting point to signal how the companies across the Group are working closer together to bring cutting edge solutions for our clients and at driving a shared identity across engineering companies. We are also launching new internal digital platforms to engage our colleagues from across locations, enhance communications and engage our employees as these will help us drive a stronger employee experience and enable greater collaboration.

Heavily promoted "Us vs. Them" mentality.

Pros

Good co-workers. Solid benefits. Livable wages. Short commute, this one is only a personal pro but they need all the help they can get.

Cons

Where to start? They seem physically incapable of promoting within. They would rather combine jobs than promote, this was evidenced by them giving the plant manager a "promotion" and leaving him as plant manager. The pay raises are laughable and they do not give any consideration towards merit. This isn't speculation, this was explicitly stated. They also would rather people quit and hire anew than pay people more. This causes significant strain on employees as they have to continually train new hires and then are told they aren't being efficient enough. As per the "us vs. them" mentality as stated in the title, they seem to go out of their way to show that office employees are more valuable. They constantly act as though we are working in a feudal system with the various office employees being lords and ladies and the production workers being the serfs. At the time of this review they have gone as far as to install locks to the office to keep employees from entering it during off shift hours. There are no documents or secrets in the office space that are open to the general plant before this action. The installation of locks is pointless and prevents off shifts from accessing basic office supplies like pens and paper which are needed to do our jobs. They frequently schedule events at a time that benefits first shift with little to no consideration of the off shifts. All of this enhances the feel of "us vs. them" as they seem to always be beyond reproach, however general labor is always questioned. Even if a mistake is made by management, rather than admit it they find a way that it was production's fault. With all of this there is also no discourse, A new rule is mandated and implemented, with no conversation of consideration. They recently put out a company wide email to write a review here, and this is likely the first time in the several years I have worked here that our input has been requested. They will also claim that they are sinking money back into the company, however that money goes into making the facility look more impressive than actually a better facility. Frequently "upgrades" will be made that hinder productivity, however since they look good they are implemented. I have gone on for a long time, and likely could go on longer, including things like the massive disconnect between when an order is placed and how long it takes to fill. The odd policies that are in place governing days off and sick time. Etc. However, basically I would recommend that if you take a job for this company to continue looking elsewhere as you likely won't be here long, and if you are be prepared to be disrespected and insulted on a nearly daily basis.

No Confidence

Pros

Employees are a pleasure to work with, the benefits are also very good. At times exciting work.

Cons

No confidence in management. They are out of touch and their style of management does not bring out the best in the work force. Planning has always and will continue to be an Achilles heel here. Most sales orders are last minute due to unrealistic time lines and very poor planning. Communication is poor as well, engineering is aware of many issues but it's never passed on and the issues are never taken care of. Popular means of fixing them are to have deviations included at time of delivery. Too many times opinions from the wrong people are taken as the "best way to conduct business". Then when it fails we move on to the next "expert" who throws in their 2 cents. Most employees feel under appreciated and their opinions are disregarded. Double standard is a way of life at Humanetics. Salary vs. Hourly, the discrepancy is ridiculous. The morale is low, many are waiting for a different opportunity to go someplace where they can be appreciated.
