    Pros

Work profile is good else nothing is attractive

    Cons

Third class mngmt.. no understanding of analyst performnce.. it is judged purely on ur b school and who u r reporting to...u hv to work atleast till 8 pm else pple look at u as if ur taking halfday...lot of salary decrimination..5- 10 yrs exp analyst gets paid same as fresher and some analysts gets 5-10 times higher though the work profile is same.. ur apprisal is nt related to ur performance but whom u r reporting to.. however hard u work nd perform well ur appraisal will b nominal unless u r favourite to ur reporting manager... Even if u r rated high it will b moderated at higher level without any reason... Well appraisal ratings are not explained to the analyst.. u hv to accept wht u r given.. no questions asked nd u wont get answer even if u ask...
U hv to forget abt ur family if u r wrkng for icra.. no work life balance.. it is only work.. many times u hv to work on sat and sund which is nt appreciated at all... There are TLs who treat u as if u r their servants and they r owners of the company..keeps on nagging nd sit on ur head all the time.
Lot more things to say.. but issues are never ending in icra...

    Advice to Management

Managemnt?? Where? Who? A single guy? Thr is only one person who controls everythng nd takes decisions..
Understand the hardwork of analysts instead of blaming without understanding the performance.
Lessen the salary descriminations... Expain why a particular rating is given to analyst in appraisal process which never happens..
Question that TL abt why pple are leaving every couple of years under you..
Thr r RC members who treat analysts as if they r lying while presenting case or answering questions during meeting... the same thing if told by his or her TL it is immdtly beleived.. y is analyst's presentation not valuable to RC members?
Why is HR only for name sake? No powers given to HR.. final decision is based on one single guy.
You lost lot of talent just becoz heavy descriminations, illtreatmnt and no mngmt.. (who cares?)
Thr will b a day when crisil takes over icra as well.. keep clapping tht time..

I worked at ICRA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Perfect place for freshers aspiring to do well in financial sector, great learning experience, freshers should focus on learning/delivering quality rather than being a part of race to execute large number of cases, work life balance is best in industry, independence for the analyst to execute cases single handedly is a real plus (although only in few mid corp teams), client interaction is a great positive, interaction with RC committee is again a different experience in itself

    Cons

Shift of focus on quantity of cases rather than quality (in Mid corp group) is demotivating the quality analyst

    Advice to Management

focus on quality than quantity as icra is known for the quality it gives to the client

    Pros

Great place to learn about businesses and financial analysis and in general to learn about the world of finance.

Good to start out of college

    Cons

    Stagnation after couple of years.

Competitive intensity of rating industry has increased and sometimes ratings are influenced by commercial considerations

    Top management lacks strategic insight

    Pros

Good work life balance and work exposure

    Advice to Management

    Improve pay

    Pros

Only learning ..where in you will be forced to learn...good peers

    Cons

Bad HR, sometime you got to work on Saturday's and Sunday's ....no recognition.....didn't explain as to how they arrived at my increment percentage.....some of the quality analysts/team leads put undue pressure on analysts.....some people do not even deserve to be team leads...they do not even have business ethics...shout at their subordinates in front of other team members....outdated infrastructure.....did not even provide ID card for 3 years....if you resign, your superiors try to put undue pressure on you to complete cases or else they would not relieve you (this really sucks)......analysts at low levels are seen as case churning machines......

    Advice to Management

be transparent in appraisal...just because an analyst could not do more than 40-45 cases..he should not get less increment...ultimately everyone puts the same effort...some analysts get information from clients and some do not.....some people do complex cases and some do easy ones....some people join 1-2 months after the start of financial year...the target should be different for them.....HR is for namesake.....if you think it is your rating committee which needs to be paid exorbitantly high then you guys are wrong...low levels guys work really hard day in day out....and also the ones who start with low base are bound to get low bonus just because they have low base....

    Pros

    Work life balance.
One of the best work in financial industry.
Very good learning for first 2-3 years.
Reasonable pay given the actual work. Even if pay might be slightly less than industry the work effort is also much lesser.

    Cons

Not rewarding performance is probably the worst part about the company. Standard hikes based on tenure and not on performance is the policy. This has killed the culture of competition among peers and noone strives for improvement anymore. The company seems to be in an auto pilot mode. Top management sucks and is totally unable to tackle this. Company resorting to short term measures such as high salary hikes , retention bonus etc to stop attrition. Poor acquisitions, beurocratic processes making this worse. Icra is mostly the last one to adapt in the industry keeping it at the loosing side most of the time. Hardly any professional growth post 2-3 years in this top heavy industry. Sales team does not get the deserved respect. Also analytical team quality is deteriorating day by day. Analytical team was once its competitive advantage.

    Advice to Management

Improve HR policies. Change processes and top management. Start holding people accountable for their work. There is still so much left in the company to make it work. Wake up before its too late. Time is running and not really on your side. Tick tock. Tick tock.
