I worked at IHC (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great staff to work with! I felt well paid for my position.

    Cons

Terrible management and upper management. They have lost touch with people actually caring for the patients. The morale is so low among staff members. The general feeling is that their opinions and lives do not matter to management. Management is encouraged to be cold, cruel and calculating. Those managers are most rewarded and valued. Staff members are made to work ill or are in danger of reprimand. I have been deeply saddened by the negative changes that have come down from management in the past years. I used to be so proud to say I worked for IHC, and would recommend it to everyone. Now I am not sure they are the best system that I once thought they were. I am thankful to be at the end of my career and feel sorry for the younger generation of nurses who must continue to suffer in such a negative environment.

    Advice to Management

Remember that employees have lives and families outside of the hospital and that they get sick like anyone else, and should not be working with hospitalized patients when they are ill themselves. Manage people on a case to case basis instead of a cookie cutter system currently in place. Make employees feel valued. right now the attitude toward staff is anyone is replaceable. Remember that oft times experience is more valuable than all youth.

I worked at IHC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Close to home and the benefits were ok.

    Cons

The pay was terrible. Too much gossip. If you are not religious, you will NEVER fit in. And if you don't sleep around, forget any promotion. Sleeping with a doctor will get you anything you want.

    Advice to Management

    Clean up your morale.

    Pros

It is a really simple job and it could be really good if you are going to school and you need a stress free part-time job.

    Cons

Management is the worst! They sit in the office all they long without doing anything. Seniors Management act more like a dictator then a person that is suppose to lead and support they employees. For only $10.50 they pretend you do the same amount of work of a UPS driver. Just to give you an idea how bad some of the managers are, they do not even know most of their employer names.
Upper level decision are made looking over a excel sheet instead of using common sense.

    Advice to Management

If you really want to get a felling of what the job really look like in the field, you need to spend time with your employers
