I worked at InVision Communications full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

PERKS: -Lots of travel (could be a pro or con, depending on your approach). -Employees are trusted with company credit cards. -Kitchen is full of snacks and beverages. -Offices are modern and welcoming. -Yearly offsite conference is ritzy and lavish. CULTURE: -In-office celebrations like birthdays, bridal/baby showers and engagement get-togethers are fun and frequent if you have time to participate. -Lots of...

    Cons

QUALITY: -Work lacks genuinely innovative creative. -New business pitches and longstanding accounts are lost because of it. COMPENSATION -Challenging for young, talented employees to obtain timely promotion and and earn appropriate compensation. BENEFITS -High deductibles for medical care -Parental leave is disappointing for an agency that claims to support flexibility for working parents

    Advice to Management

To combat growing contempt among hard-working employees -- hire with purpose. Make the effort to seek diverse talent. If everyone is related, knows each other from high school or is a friend-of-a-friend, then the work will reflect the same homogeneity as the people creating it. The events industry is a work hard / play harder atmosphere that creates burnout and agitation. Reward and recognize those who are succeeding...

I have been working at InVision Communications full-time

    Pros

Rich culture inspired by the founders who still come to work every day, and featuring some of the most experienced production professionals in the business. Trying to grow into new areas beyond the ballroom, and that's not easy. But lots of promise and potential for people willing to throw in with that vision and make a difference.

    Cons

Not a good place for creative types unwilling to collaborate or incapable of accepting criticism. Also, above-ground parking can be sparse on Tuesdays.

I worked at InVision Communications full-time

    Pros

There are a lot of social perks-being your dogs to work day, lots of team events.

    Cons

The office is extremely cliquey(reference one review said cult-like) especially the females who work in the office. They gossip about everyone and should be doing more work. Watch your back! Because it’s a small event service business located in a suburban environment-the people inside get competitive and reject ideas quickly. Events are safe and management is not open to new ideas from staff.

    Advice to Management

Hire more diverse, creative, and humble individuals who are grateful to work here. Also develop teams with stronger knowledge and experience with this industry.

I worked at InVision Communications for more than 2 years

    Pros

Stable, predictable, and nice in the extreme. They've been around a long time doing the same kind of show for the same kind of clients (big tech and medical). So if you have little creative ambition and will be happy in a suburban office environment (CA office), this might be a good fit. Even the NY and Chicago offices rarely land projects outside the big tech vacuum. The baseline IVC (InVision Communications) project...

    Cons

Weak leadership and inexperienced management. Most of the key players in this company have been there literally for decades, and many have had no production experience outside of IVC. Many of the large accounts are 10+ years old as well. IVC caters to a market with a low appetite for risk and change, and this mindset filters down through all departments. They often talk of wanting to evolve and take risks, but no...

    Advice to Management

You should probably stop trying to become a creative agency and embrace the ballroom work. No one in your organization has the experience needed to make a creative team grow, and none of your leadership seems to have the desire to become more than a ballroom production house. Understand that creative work happens BEFORE the production work begins, and your company has never been structured that way.

I have been working at InVision Communications full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

There are so many pro's from the incredible founders, to the staff who is like family and the amazing global volunteer opportunities I honestly can't think of a better place to work. Managment genuiennly cares about employees and does their best to accommodate any situation. I come to work everyday thinking how lucky I am to work here. They live up to their motto Do Great, Be Good, Have Fun!

    Cons

A decent amount of long training days that can get in the way of busy schedules but they are doing it to help improve employee growth so it is hard to consider this a con.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing!

    Pros

Privately held by caring, involved founders; smart, experienced staff; world-class client portfolio; offices in WC, Chicago and NY.

    Cons

Occasional growing pains and a few old-school ways of doing things that will hopefully be overhauled or thrown out at some point. Every company has its issues, InVision has far fewer than most.

    Advice to Management

    Not for public comment.

I worked at InVision Communications full-time

    Pros

You'll work with some really great people who quickly become your confidants and friends. InVision places importance on their culture and familial-like community; it's a better atmosphere than what you'll find at most competitors.

    Cons

InVision is a safe company. If you're looking to be on the cutting-edge of industry thinking, this isn't the place for you. They hesitate to take risks with their creative or production approach. Entrenched employees and collective fear of losing long-time clients contribute to InVision's 'vanilla-ness.' That said, it says a lot about company in this industry to be around for over 25 years. Safe has worked for them thus...
