    Pros

They took care of the employees I worked with very well, as retention is critical in their industry. Frequent fun "team-building" events. Big emphasis on safety. Soccer field, basketball court, and gym all on site. EXCELLENT corporate housing was provided to me and my co-op coworker at a fantastic discount.

    Cons

The Linden area is a little boring but it is also a train ride away from New York.

    Pros

-Excellent people to work with, everyone is accommodating, honest, and respectful.
-Culture was very strong and employee morale was very high, which will keep you motivated and optimistic!
-(LBTC) is a very calm and stress-free environment.
-Projects are challenging but very rewarding, you get what you put in!

    Cons

-There seemed to be variability in terms of getting a rewarding Co-Op project and being assigned to an adviser who would not be too busy to help out. While my project and adviser were both phenomenal, I could tell other Co-Op students got the short end of the stick with smaller, less demanding projects or managers who were always busy. But this was just an observation.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work, it was an absolute pleasure being a part of your Co-Op program!

    Pros

Infineum is a world class additive company for crankcase, marine and automatic transmission fluids. Infineum is an excellent training ground for anyone wanting employment in one of the major oil companies.

    Cons

At the start of the joint venture, the pay scale was Exxon/Shell. Ever since the JV, the raises have been well below par to bring down the average salary to hit the target in the tranche of companies selected for comparable salaries.

Every year, the amount of money required by employee contributions to health case goes up along with deductibles for doctor office visits. I recently learned where they eliminated pensions for new hires.

The building in Linden is now almost 70 years old.

While it is hard to argue with safety, I question the focus. All the injuries happen to contractors at the manufacturing plants. Much effort of the safety effort is focused on white collar office workers.

The only persons with career mobility are those that have backgrounds as a contact engineer at Bayway.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be an infusion of fresh blood among the ranks of management. Everybody in management has a similar background and set of experiences. Everybody tends to think in the same way. There is way too much paperwork and bureaucracy.

    Pros

Let's you direct your own career path as long as openings are available.

    Cons

Long hours, slow to update or change for the better.

    Advice to Management

Utilize the energy of your new hires to drive change, not bog them down with meaningless paperwork.

I have been working at Infineum full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable company that offers competitive pay and great benefits. The environment, at least at my level, is pretty laid back. Flexible schedules allows for a window of time for arrival and departure. Groups can seem more like family and if you reach out you can find someone to mentor/coach you as you attempt to move up the career ladder. Company has a strong safety initiative. The company generally cares for its employees. It's a great place to start out especially after graduating college. The business is run well from a financial standpoint.

    Cons

Career growth is next to impossible to achieve for anyone that isn't an engineer or chemist.. Job openings are far and few in between. Lately, many people have retired but they aren't being replaced via open resourcing. Many people are promoted via direct hire so, you definitely have to know/ be close to someone that makes the hiring decisions. It's all very political. Company wastes time on some initiatives. They talk about something one time. Start a focus group and then you never hear about it again. Had an opportunity to speak with CEO Xavier. He seems really out of touch with the little guy's experience working for his company is like. He held conversation however seemed really disinterested.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps consider people that may be different from what whom you usually promote. Really harness the capability and strengths of your entire employee base by promoting talented individuals that don't necessarily look and think like you.

    Pros

    Stable work enviroment. Decent benefits

    Cons

Lacks leadership and accountability. Slow pace, lacks diversity and inclusiveness. Culture is a disaster. Lacks credibility and accountability from senior management. Don’t lead with an example. Primarily male dominated culture only promotes homogeneous groups and Yes people. Company also lacks strategic intent and does not have a proper commercial vision due to the lack in diversity of thought and quality of professionals.

    Advice to Management

They should all be change as they are not an effective team starting with the CEO. The CLT is an homogeneous group that lacks diversity and only promotes what is similar to them to they promote to the same leve of mediocracy. Company also promotes bullying and is a very discrminatory enviroment where inclusiveness and diversity is not valued.
