    Pros

    Flexible schedule
    Lots of pto hours
    Sharp learning curve
Fellow coworkers are of a wide variety and easy to work with

    Cons

    Management is lacking
    Favoritism to PhD's and management
    No career growth
Salary is a joke unless you have a PhD
    Mirco management and negative reinforcement
Training is a joke and problems are always reactive and in hindsight
CEO is a joke does not care about floor workers at all
Management is expected to be on 24 hour all and no engineering support to off shifts
Raises and career movement is all Favoritism and not on skill
Tools and tech are at least 30 years old
Great place to start and learn but constantly keep looking for better because you will not have a career here
Project based company performance can be up one week and near layoff the next week
    Huge turnover rate

    Advice to Management

Send all management to intensive training
Essentially fix all the cons above.

I worked at Innovative Micro Technology full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There were a variety of interesting programs to work on, and numerous technical challenges to solve. Able to fully own the technical and business aspects of a program. Learned a lot, good benefits, worked with smart people.

    Cons

Long, demanding hours. Older equipment. Employees want more formal training. Not enough opportunities for career development outside of the factory, such as being able to attend conferences.

    Advice to Management

Access to current MEMS engineering journals and papers should be made available.

    Pros

The product line at Micro Technology was excellent. The company had the best add on memory systems for large scale computers.

    Cons

The management team at Micro Technology was not leadership material. Their mode of operation was negative reinforcement and micro management.

    Advice to Management

Get real and install an ISO 9001 Quality Management System to improve overal policy, procedures and process work flows.
This will require a cultural change and improve employee morale

    Pros

The best reason to work at IMT is that they're pretty flexible with your schedule. Also as a MEMS engineer starting out you can learn a lot really quickly.

    Cons

    - Doesn't appreciate employees
    - No career growth until your superior leaves
    - Fosters an us vs. them relationship with customers
    - Puts inexperienced people in positions of power
    - Management very reactive, not pro active

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees and customers well, they're the reason you're in existence

I worked at Innovative Micro Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

IMT is good to get some work experience under your belt.
The place can be either tame and you clock in clock out or it can be hectic and challenging depending on your position

    Cons

When I was there the machines were old, really old, and that meant a lot of scraps and unstable processes. So lots of frustration and fires to put out that could have been avoided.
    Limited advancement

I worked at Innovative Micro Technology full-time

    Pros

An environment where one has access to tools for learning, despite these being very old
A lot of diversity in the type of project

    Cons

Company does little to retain talented employees and management invests more into unused equipment than in its workforce. Very negative attitudes exhibited, and company is rather reactive to problems, rather than preventative. Company does not seem to have their processes under control, despite what they might tell you. They have lost many customer accounts due to their inability to scale up production effectively and deliver repeatable results. Management and sales are disconnected to engineering and some managers don't even show up to work. Some of their sales technique seem rather deceptive.

    Advice to Management

Train your employees better and actually get to know them. Be aware that upper level managers are NOT the workhorse or backbone of your company, but rather your engineers and technicians. Be HONEST about your capabilities with your customers, rather than trying to fool them, only to later lose their trust and their accounts.
