Chaos, Favoritism and Nepotism

Business Outlook

Pros

Ability to work from home. Good benefits given size. Fewer hours and less travel than typical

Cons

Difficult to onboard, and overall new employees are neither empowered to do their work nor trusted. Disorganized in both people and project management. Consultants are continually staffed on efforts without requisite skills, thanks to turnover of skilled consultants. Leadership focused on growth not customer service or quality of work product. Widely known the business will be sold. Friends, family, and favorites land roles they didn’t earn and are not qualified for while the most talented employees get frustrated and leave. Over-hiring results in benched consultants frequently. Consultants will develop more, be recognized for achievements more, and get paid more elsewhere and they know it.

Nepotism at its worst

Pros

There are some great people that work there who truly care.

Cons

The nepotism is the worst I have ever seen at a company. The 401k match is minimal, compensation increases are very low, and people are overworked.

Pros

You will work with some pretty awesome and talented people here; the work is reasonably flexible as you can work kind of when you want provided you meet deadlines and attend meetings and are available to answer emails throughout normal working hours.

Cons

Management is bad, want to squeeze consultants for every drop they can. They have nasty 3 year non-compete agreements for new hires if they train you to get WD certified. Their bonus plan is ridiculous because it's based on utilization, which is largely outside of your control. If you do hit your util numbers or exceed them, they will just tell you you're doing your job, and it doesn't mean you deserve a promotion / raise. They will pay you fairly once the non-compete is over and you push for at least market rate, but they will try their darndest to keep you lowballed.
