I have been working at Inventec full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Stable employment, okay salary, normal hours for the most part.

    Cons

Can get stuck at the same position with the same pay for long periods without a raise or adjustment, but it is to be expected. Can require you to work from home after normal hours on certain occasions even though their is no work from home policy according to the company. Limited advancement oppurtunities.

    Advice to Management

Just a little higher pay can go a long way with your employees.

I worked at Inventec full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Engaged in new technology, completely autonomous, can be good, can be bad, on the bad side, you're never sure if your management team is supportive or not, basically guessing at what's best for the team and customer.

    Cons

The managers are content-centric and techie, meaning they don't know how to manage people very well or coach them to better expectations. The last thing you want to know is your performance is not satisfactory the day they are letting you go.

    Advice to Management

Managers of people and content should have both skill sets. Invariably, they are content / technical managers with little or no people skills. This is very consistent w/ the Silicon Valley management model, it's hard to find people w/ both skills, granted, but I think upper management should do a better job in trying to hire and keeping those managers that have these skills.

    I worked at Inventec full-time

    Pros

Free lunch and dinner buffets. Spacious personal workplace. Free dormitory housing. Friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

As far as the department I was in goes, the structure of people responsible for managing/coding was unbalance. As a result, coding engineers had much more workload than the rest of people in this department.

I worked at Inventec full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    There is no Pro. None

    Cons

If you ever were approached by these guys, especially SCRD (santa clara), just run. Micro managing you to death and than some. Very imcompetent (suppose to be ex-Cisco, by who knows?) management.

    Advice to Management

Please do everyone a favorite and resign.

I have been working at Inventec full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Freedom to innovate and be exposed to new technologies. Most employees are wonderful co-workers. Pay and benefits are good.

    Cons

Definitely old-school Taiwanese. Short sighted planning cycles (typically next quarter). Reliant on Server, notebook, tablet, and mobile phone for revenue. Not growing new revenue sources. Only focus on several large customers

    Advice to Management

Don't sell the future for present eps and stock price gains. Focus less on investors and more on customers. Get new blood into executive managment
